Let met tell you about my character!
A new GM in our group is trying an interesting concept... we're the good guys, but we're actually the bad guys. Let me 'splain. No... there is too much... let me sum up.
We're all goblinoids. That was the only restriction on characters. We all had to be a goblinoid (goblin, bugbear, or hobgoblin). Every villain is the hero of their own story, and that's us. As goblinoids, we're technically the bad guys, but we see ourselves as the GOOD guys. Our alignments, therefore, reflect that. We're not evil. We're fighting for the survival of the goblinoid race! It's those pesky elves and dwarves and humans that are the villains! Because we're supposed to be already-established heroes of our clans, we started at level 3.
Anyway, my character is The Envoy. That's the only name she's ever had. She is a warlock of the Great Old Ones, with the Pact of the Book. The Book, of course, is a certain madman's journal filled with eldritch lore about elder gods. Every now and again she spouts a phrase or prophecy and shows the other characters a page from the book... that is invariably either completely blank or filled with childish scribbles. Apparently only she can see whatever it is that she is reading. Her patron is Nyarlathotep, so this makes her a herald of the herald of the Great Old Ones. Her trinket is a small, strangely glowing crystal... the Shining Trapezohedron. (It's not really a powerful artifact that summons Nyarlathotep... it is still just a trinket, after all... it's more just an inside reference than an actual usable magic item.)
