Who's bringing kids at some point during the con, and any thoughts on dedicating some kid RPG game going-ons? I'm looking at you mysticfedora, Stu Venable, kurtpotts... can't remember who else off hand. And of course gina for the GM win at last con, even if you aren't bringing any wee ones. Nova comes Sunday morning sometime, so I'm specifically interested in Sunday 2pm and later. Also Monday morning. We often try to get into mook's Monday game, but she's been less enthused because recently there are more adults in that one; sorry, mook... just the nature of the kid :-) I'm happy to run stuff, but also happy to just have something she's interested in playing that someone else runs. Of the things I can run that may work: Dungeon World. The Warren. Dread + Mad Max. Fallout Shelter RPG. In theory we could also schedule < 4 hour games to do 2 Sunday slots that take advantage of the earlier hours... maybe instead of 9-1pm, 2-6pm, and 8-midnight, we could run some kid slots with shorter hours and less insanely late times? Something like 2-5pm and 7-10pm? Also, if more than a few of us dedicate timeframes for this at the same time, we could run it all in the Games on Demand area, which would be available during this time. (Or ask plusx2a for a dedicated room up in the San Lorenzos). Any thoughts?

My superhero game is listed as Family Friendly. I'm prepping it with the expectation that I'll run for all kids. If it's all grown ups, I'll just improv more mature themes and situations into the game. I think I requested a Sunday slot, but I'll have to check with plusx2a

Accidental rebels went over pretty well so I'll run another family friendly Ewok game. Keep an eye out for Ewokin' After Midnight. I haven't thought about a time slot yet.

Also Kurt III will be there so I'm sure he'll be looking for some games. After the last con the game he talked about the most was the Epic level 5e game he played. At his age he really wants to roll a ton of dice and kill monsters.

We often try to get into mook 's Monday game, but she's been less enthused because recently there are more adults in that one; sorry, mook... just the nature of the kid :-) Fair enough. I've never actually run a game purposely geared towards kids -- even, say, the "Bunnies & Burrows" and "Children's toys and protectors battle against nightmares" games were written with adults in mind, but attract children because of the theme (and are easy enough to adapt on the fly). But Gamex was "Colonial Marines vs. Alien Xenomorphs, fight for survival," so I was not surprised to have no children players. "Daddy, this guard we rescued from the chitin on the walls shows obvious signs of having been impregnated with a chest-burster. The kindest thing we can do is tell him to look at the flowers and put one in his brain pan."

Can't wait to bring Declan to one of these. Maybe next year.

I should have both kids in tow for Septembercon. They had a blast at Februarycon, and were miffed that I'm not taking them to Gencon.
Haven't thought yet about what to run. I know I'm going to attend the LARP 101 thing on Saturday afternoon.

I usually bring Robert on Sundays, so that'd be perfect for us. Kiddo is okay with anything now, Dread and Fate make him happy. Anything PBTA.

mysticfedora, Stu Venable, gina, kurtpotts, lowkeyohOK... I'm gonna do a POLL! (Never done one here before). Basically: I was thinking that it could be cool to do a Games on Demand for kids at 2pm. This would work if a few of us got together and planned on a few appropriate games or game systems, and then once we gather up, we could figure out what the kids were into and make it happen (same as Games on Demand for adults that happens on Saturday). Note that there are two options: "Kids Only" means under 18 and focuses on kids playing with kids. "Family Friendly" means anyone can play. That said, if I'm the only one in this camp, then forget about it... would rather sign up for shit so my daughter knows she'll get into something she's interested in. So: A poll to see if I can get some critical mass on something for Sunday afternoon... (no pressure either way, just trying to plan instead of us all separately posting games without communication)

I unfortunately can't do the Sunday schedule, but again, I think that sounds rad!

I'll run something. I picked up Dungeonesque, which is a DnD5e old-school clone (even looks like the old White Box edition). It may be that.
My preference would be family friendly, rather than kids only.

Hey folks, I posted the following on the Strategicon Unofficial facebook, and the GoD slots are all already up on the website: RPG GAMES ON DEMAND
We'll be running 4 separate time slots of this at Gateway 2017, including a KIDS ONLY slot on Sunday. Details below! WHAT IS IT? Role playing and story games that mostly focus on indie press and shared narrative. Great in cases where you didn't get into the game you wanted, or if you just want to check out new and interesting collaborative RPGs, or you feel like running such games. WHAT GAMES DO WE PLAY? We won't know exactly until we gather up. We will pitch games at 15 minutes after the start time listed, and then form into tables. Popular games include The Quiet Year, Microscope, Powered by the Apocalypse (PbtA) games such as Dungeon World, Post World Games, Dread, Fall of Magic, and others. WHEN IS IT? Dedicated time slots can be found on the event page under "RPG Games on Demand" (http://www.strategicon.net/index.php?goto=events), and include Sat 9am-1pm, Sat 2-6pm, a late night Sat 10pm-1am session, and a KIDS ONLY session on Sunday 2pm-6pm. No need to sign-up ahead of time, just show up at the time listed. Alternatively, come at any time and games could be happening or arranged. HOW LONG DO WE PLAY? Anywhere from 2-4 hours, depending on the game. WHERE IS IT? We should be found at the bottom of the escalators (coming from the ground floor) on B1, next to the Gym. You'll pass us on the way to Open Gaming and the D&D/Pathfinder organized play areas. Alternatively, just ask at RPG headquarters to be pointed in the right direction. QUESTIONS? Ask away... My preference would be family friendly, rather than kids only. Didn't see this until after all that, and so already set it as "kids only", but let me explain my thinking: 1. If we market it Kids Only, we can prioritize the kids getting in games, and not have to worry about accommodating the adults if there aren't enough GMs, spaces, and so on. 2. Each GM can individually make the call about whether to run only for kids or family friendly (kids + adults). For instance I haven't ever run a game for kids that I couldn't throw adults in to, but I don't want to necessarily force that upon individual GMs.
