Black Raven, a local seasonal brew. It's a beer brewed with coffee beans that we're soaked in Bourbon. Also, breaking out my 12 year Glenfiddich. It's not a special occasion but I drink alone a lot so, why not. You're a happyjacker — technically you're never drinking alone! Prost!

I was worried I might feel it today, but the only thing keeping me down is the humid weather here. PS: DRINK! ** * "pre-script" ** "post-script"

So last week was our 8th wedding anniversary. We opted for 2 of our favorite local places. The 1st (for food) I had a cocktail, then across the street where we had champagne, then wine, then my wife brought out her gift for me (8 years is bronze, so she got some aged Powers Whiskey, which is bronze in color), then more wine.
I don't remember the end of the evening. It was a Tuesday, and I'm VERY glad I had the forethought to take the following day off work.

Last night we had a pretty big party, and I managed to see off the last of the 1974 Glenfiddich Pure Malt I'd mentioned earlier. We also dipped into wood-barrel aged awamori, a distilled alcohol from Okinawa. Today it has me saying "OkiNAWa" because NAW, I ain't about any more alcohol today. It's been a rough one. I'll turn 50 this week, and I find that partying like I'm in my 20s or 30s is no longer feasible.
Great night.
Rough, rough day today.

Went to the grocery store last night and spotted the first batch of cartoned eggnog in the dairy section. Made my day, that did. I typically go through about a carton a week from now until New Year's.

I do miss eggnog. I need to find a diabetic friendly version.

I miss eggnog; they don't sell it in Japan, and it would be a PITA to make from scratch. I like just buying it at any supermarket. HyveMynd and I got our beer on last night! We enjoyed several local brews at a craft beer pub, as part of a recovery plan from the recently-opened Taco Bell here in Osaka. My favorite was the Onidensetsu (DEMON LEGEND!) pair of single-hop pale ales. Woooooo~! Thanks for coming out, Hyvie!

I made eggnog from scratch here once and yeah. It was a fracking pain. What with raw eggs not being a big deal here, you'd think Japan would be all over it. I guess it falls into both the "too sweet" and "milk" categories, which is a double no-no here. Thanks for the awesome night out chronovore! I have miraculously escaped any intestinal retribution as a result of the Taco Bell.

What am I drinking? Water. Tea. I'm sick. First time I caught a bad cold in Japan, the locals fed me hot sake with sugar and an egg dropped into it. …it wasn't quite as horrible as it sounds. Maybe you can try that?

Well, I survived our local Oktoberfest bash again this year. I dunno if we drank the town dry of Millstream beer, but I did my part. Or so I'm told.
