First - Congratulations to CA Dave and Weaselcreature for a great show!
Second - David Kizzia for his Gracious and Sportsmanlike acceptance of the Ennies results. It is indeed an honor to be nominated.
Third - It was nice to see Bill again, Hi Bill! hope everything is going great in the UK.
Now a word about the Ennies. Chaosium won an amazing number of awards, and their theme song was a choral number praising Cthulhu. It was ok to start with , but every time they played it, I became angrier and angrier until I was finally GOING INSANE. That's when I realized their fiendish plan - they were deliberately playing that terrible song in an effort to drive those of us listening on YouTube crazy. It didn't work, I tell you! You can't drive ME crazy. I'm self-driven.

Still super mad I wasn't at Gencon this year. Next year I'll buy my own damn ticket. That aside. Also tomes any chance you could talk to us more about how Games on Demand works?

Might be easier audio though. Do you Discord? Forresst is the master douchebag running the HJ Discord server, and I've recently done a discord audio thing on another server and it's pretty awesome. Audio only, but good quality!

Now, YMMV, but it's been my experience that the time and money and sweat-equity to get to Gencon is definitely worth it. As was said, definitely play every demo that even seems remotely interesting. I'm probably not going to get to go until '19 and it'll be my first Indy. Used to go all the time when it was in Milwaukee because I lived around Lake Michigan from it.

I used to go when it was in Milwaukee as well! Lived north of there. Now I live in Nevada, and I'm yearning for the mid-west again. Perhaps next year will be time to journey to Gencon again.

I lived in Muskegon, right across the lake. The year after I moved, they put the Milwaukee-Muskegon car ferry in - 2 hour boat ride instead of 5 by car. At least when and if we all go, we can meet up as a mob.

I honestly wanted more cadave pronouncements and larger-than-life bellowing. Good job, I'm sure it will be even easier next time, CADave! It /is/ a fantastic honor just to be nominated, so congrats on that! I believe HJ RPG should have the alternate tagline, "RPG podcasting's dirty little secret."

It was awesome meeting everyone, and I hope you all come back next year! I'm a giant fan of GenCon, and love it when new people get inducted into it. ^.^
This year was especially cool, as I got to talk with not only Stu, Bill, and the others from the meet up, but a large number of the creators of games that have given me decades of enjoyment. John Wick, Sandy Peterson, Mike Pondsmith, the ODaM crew, Robin Laws (one day I will hit the Pelgrane booth when Ken is around!!), Shawn Carman (who despite only running into me at GenCon, still knows exactly who I am and greets me by name every time)..... Who now that I type all that really epitomizes what I loved about this year.... All these luminaries were just giant, jovial fans themselves, and when I got the chance to thank them for their gifts to me, they all absolutely lit up with joy, and quickly we were both geeking out over a shared love. Oh, and, of course, Dave. I did make it over to your booth, and picked up your package deal on Spirit of '77.
Equally, it was absolutely awesome to see all these great legacy games either having come back, or on their way to that. From Torg, to CoC 7e (Thanks for saving that Sandy!!) to actually stumbling across the ICE booth (!!), it was heartening to see games that I've been playing for the majority of my life still going strong.
I spent a metric ton of money. ^.^ Flying Frog got the biggest chunk, I think. I love their games, especially Shadows of Brimstone (which is what I grabbed this year), got my copy of 7th sea 2e signed, got a copy of Cthulhu Confidential (and got Robin to sign it), Starfinder, Dragonfire, LOTS of quickstarts.... LOTS of dice (my brother foolishly left me unsupervised several times, allowing me to feed my addiction).... Despite planning on not getting any new t-shirts (with my job, I don't have a lot of opportunity to wear them) I still went home with 5 new shirts.... ah well. ^.^
I spent the majority of my time in the dealer's hall, zipping around on my scooter (only 225 dollars for the weekend if anyone is interested). The press of people was occasionally rough, but when it got bad, there was usually someone really awesome who would jump in the middle of an aisle, or intersection and block the flow of traffic to let me through.

Third - It was nice to see Bill again, Hi Bill! hope everything is going great in the UK. Things are going very well as we settle into the new normal. I'm itching to get a regular gaming thing going again, and hopefully I'll get a guest shot in an UpToFourPlayers game. Completely unbeknowst to me, I now work with one of them!
