Anyone familiar with the 1st edition of the Dark Heresy rpg? There's a couple of Bundle of Holding's available at the moment. I dig the 40k universe and it looks like a crap ton of splat books are available. Any opinions on the game?

I liked it. I played in a brief 1st edition game. Are the rules perfect? No but I feel that they worked well for the setting. I looked at buying the bundles as well but own most of it in physical books. It's a career system, where you pick a career and follow a path with options to send experience points on things. You will have to remember you're like underlings for underlings of a Inquisitor in the game. So don't expect to be like a DnD character. Where you can take on most challenges head on. Was there anything specific you wanted to know? I could pull some books off shelves.

Just wondered about the general game play. Good to know about the character generation - when you say profession based you mean class based more or less?

It’s pretty much a class system. Each profession or class has branches. The more experience you spend the higher up in the profession you get. Like if I’m an arbiter or police officer I can work my way up to be a judge or chief of police kind of thing. There are different levels with titles, so starting at arbiter you move on too something else once you have enough xp. In each branch there are several ways to spend your experience. Things like stat bonuses or skills.
The basic dice system is percentile. Roll d100 and hope to get under your stat or skill. There are incredible tables of critical hits too. There are rules for psykers. They are incredibly dangerous to both enemies and friendly. If you roll really bad as a psyker then perils of the warp happen and you roll on a table too see what happens. Anything from the psyker dying to summoning a demon.
