Hey, tyler , I'm listening to s11 now — you mentioned being in Santa Cruz at one point. What years were you there? I graduated in 1991 and worked at the O'Neill Sportswear offices on 41st until 1993. I grew up in the area. Lived in Wastonville until I was like, 20. Moved to Soquel/Capitola until Imoved to LA in 2005, then back up to Watsonville in 2015. My wife and I live in San Jose now, though, and avoid Santa Cruz as much as possible. Yeah, I still visit when I'm back in the USA, but it sure feels different there now than the late '80s/early '90s. The quake changed a lot of things, mostly for the worse. And San Jose is SO MUCH NICER now than it was then. You ever get out to Hermitage Brewery in SJ? If not, dude, you gotta.

My biggest issue with SC now is the ridiculous amount of willfully transient people. I'll check out the brewery some weekend!

My SC issue is how much crime has increase, how much corporate chainstores have invaded and changed the Pacific Garden Mall's tone, and the old Book Shop Santa Cruz location (where Kelly's French Pastry was) is still a gaping hole from 1989. It's just weird. It feels like the town never recovered.
