Anyone here play 'houses of the blooded' by John Wick? It's a game that has interested me for a long time and I am wondering if there is shared interest on the board here.

I never played it, but seems to have inspired his other work "Blood & Honor" which is pretty cool. They both have the tragic trajectory, so I'm interested!

Blood and Honor was also a good game. More focused on a full cooperative play. I've always liked kingdom/stronghold building aspects in rpgs.

I've tried to read HotB a few times, and while it seems like a fun game, it's terrible to read. Apparently John was going through a rough patch as he wrote it, while going overboard with the in character part, so it's kind of intentionally messy.
Maybe it's like some games by Robin Laws, that they can be mined for ideas and approaches? I think John is a vastly underrated designer, and it's a game with a lot of really cool ideas in it.
