Let us say you have a one-shot you're going to run and you're recruiting players (in my particular case this is going to be an online game). You can accomodate four players, and that's the amount you want to get, if you can. You've sent out invitations to four people - one for each open slot.
How long do you wait for a response before you widen the net and start sending invitations to other people?

In that situation I would normally invite 8 and say first four to sign up get it.
