So I ran the game in Savage Worlds a little while ago and I am thinking about running a part 2 soon because nothing ever goes as planned and you never get done with as much as you think you will. And yes I stole the idea and I don't have much shame in that, but I will say thanks to Tyler and the Happy Jackers for getting the idea to my ear buds.
I am looking for feedback and more ideas to steal for part number two and I wanted to give a short run down about how it went.
The super powered presidents:
Lincoln: Melee striker, speedster, healer, social fop
Teddy Rosevelt: Ranged striker, combat genius, outdoorsman
Taft: Blob like damage absorber with armor penetrating fists, magic lure, dispel
Nixon: Stealth, Invisibility, raise zombies , magic aoes and a flamethrower
I am trying to bring in some intrigue for them to figure out but it seems that they are so involved in their larger than life characters that they have blown off most clues I have dropped. I am planning on the conspiracy to involve organic farmers adding mind control chemicals into their foods. The vegans and hippies start to get even more crazy and militant fighting on the side of the dead dictators.
My group has blown off every clue as just a personal bias on my part that I must just hate hippies and vegans so that is why they are carrying around AK-47s in their hemp satchels and are quick to pick a fight with the Dead Presidents. Instead of taking it as a clue to what might be happening they think it is my bias as a GM coming out in the game.
"I liked AK-47s before they were popular" one hipster says before opening fire.
I have them come across an Ocuppy Bosie, Idaho protest and more and more trouble ensues. Watching Lincoln talk to hippies about how cows and chickens are slaves in America was hilarious.
Nixon explaining what hippies are to the rest of the presidents was also a side splitting moment.
How do I make sure that my players know that I am not doing things like this to express my personal bias but it is a plot point that I want them to follow up on without spoon feeding it to them? Saying that is not my bias, maybe you should look into that seem to be a ham-fisted way to do it.
Love to hear some ideas. Also I'll post more about the game if there is interest in hearing it. I was thinking about making it a one shot, but it seems that it needs a part two at least.
Thanks in advance!
