Got a question for you, plusx2a. I don't recall hearing an in depth description of how Edison's flight works. Is it simply he "controls gravity around him and makes him fly?" Because I thought of something while listening. Perhaps he places a gravity well in front of him that draws him to it. He can shift that gravity well around to steer and change direction. In essence, though, it feels like he's constantly falling...just not necessarily towards the ground. So a quick pull back on the stick doesn't really have that increased G's towards Earth one would normally feel. Imagine how any passengers you take might feel about that?

Edison's powers are based on generating spontaneous singularities. Think of them as small points of extreme mass/gravity. His flight is basically creating a series of these singularities in line to basically fall in the right direction. First he generates a singularity that directly opposes the Earth's gravity well making him "boyant" and then creates others that drive him in the right direction. It takes an immense amount of concentration to do anything but basically fall sideways since maneuver requires him to generate several gravity wells to control his speed and direction. Almost like maneuvering thrusters in reverse. The reason he landed before taking a call was simply because attempting to multitask while flying could be very dangerous.
The fact that he is being pulled instead of pushed and that the force of that pull is evenly distributed across 100% of his mass makes for a much smoother transition in Delta V since the acceleration is the same we experience in freefall and I can control the terminal velocity.
