My attempts at not just plowing through the backlog but getting out the tweezers and magnifying glass and really picking it apart and analyzing it for some show notes are yielding some interesting nuggets. (The current episodes show notes are awesome by the way!) I was listening to Season 1 Episode 1 and the topic of common GM mistakes came up at 25:00 min to be exact...
I thought it might be interesting to take a step away from the esoteric discussions of system, fudging, and various other navel gazing activities and see where the hosts/listeners are on the list that started it all. I would imagine this was by no means a "top ten" but just what Stu, Tappy and Stork rattled out of their collective conscious before the show. What might your top five or ten be ? Waddya think...
Common GM Mistakes
1. Trying to force the mood 2. Do Overs (ret con) 3. Being Unprepared 4. Letting the Rules Bog You Down 5. Not Knowing the System 6. Playing Favorites 7. Being Adversarial 8. Over Educating Players 9. Assuming Players Know as Much as the GM 10. Taking Away What's Cool About a Character
Just a thought crew.
By the way, for posterity's sake the First Profanity Ever! On HJ's was 43:49 when Tappy says "Cluster Fuck!"
Cheers.

Cluster Fuck isn't profanity, its military jargon, like Cock Up, and Fucked Up Beyond Recognition. Perfectly suitable for all audiences:)

If I recall correctly 'cluster fuck' was used to great effect in 'Full Metal Jacket'. Which coincidentally is the source title of one of my fave songs of all time: Jello Biafra with DOA 'Full Mental Jackoff' from 'Last Scream of the Missing Neighbours' Aaron
