mook, jazzisblues - all I can say is.... *✿◠‿◠✿* CUTEST! *✿◠‿◠✿*ahem.... And now - creating Batman in DCC RPG. Following rules as written. No house rules. Everything is from the book. First - rolled dem bones. 3d6 in order. Legit. Strength: 10 Agility: 11 Stamina: 15 Personality: 11 Intelligence: 10 Luck: 11 A d30 for birth auger. Starting luck mod+- affects this forever. (24) Speed of the Cobra (initiative) Rules allow selection of any occupation the DM allows - so I'll go with FUCKING BATMAN. This affects all skill rolls. Any time he needs to do a skill roll, if it is arguably BATMAN 'stuff' then he gets to roll as 'skilled' (a d20). Otherwise he rolls as 'unskilled' (d10). Obviously his class is 'Warrior'. I have made him level 3 ('rare genius'). As opposed to say level 6 ('supra-mortal'). Rollin' some HP's (1d4+3d12+4) 30 And the rest is all derived. SHEET: Attachments:

Irrespective of system wouldn't one just put 'I'm The Batman' in every blank square on a character sheet - questioned solved . . . Eg: GM 'you need to climb an impossibly smooth building, grab the girl, land in a car designed specifically for skyscraper hopping, out run the police and get back in time to attend a function as you're alter ego . . . How are you gonna do it?" PLAYER "I'm The Batman" GM ". . . Ok, that's done . . . What'll you be drinking at the reception? . . ." Aaron

My ProBoards app is rubbish at the moment. If the posts are long it crashes before I can get to the bottom of a page. Like the first page of this thread. Had to tell CC to cut his post sizes down because half the time I could never read what he'd written as the app would just shit itself . . . They really should fix it as its an obvious bug and it's been pissing me off for about 2 months now. Aaron

Personally, I think it'd be cool to do this sort of exercise with a villain.

Yeah, if *I* were running a GURPS Supers game, it would look a lot more like the ST/DX/IQ/HT above, with the single skill, "Batman! 16." But that didn't seem to really show the default system very well.

The more succinct systems are quicker, especially in combat. The more expansive systems allow for deeper role play. Sorry to digress, but I don't think that "deeper role play" comes from a more expansive system. I think it could be argued that deep roleplay comes from the player and not from numbers on a character sheet... I consider things like saying "I attempt to climb the walls using my bat-hook" and then rolling the die vs a "climb" skill is only a tiny bit roleplaying and a lot more "gaming". I think the decision to climb the walls, which is based on the knowledge that it is the sneakiest entrance to a safe-house where the Joker is keeping a kidnap victim, and the decision that goes into whether to climb in, or kick down the front door, or ignore the hostage completely is "roleplaying", and that usually has very little to do with a traditional Gurps or Savage Worlds character sheet. That decision is "roleplaying" and the elements that make up that decision are just as deep whether your character sheet has Strength, Agility, Climb skill, and "Bat-hook" equipment, or if the character sheet just says "batman", and the player brings the decision-making to the table.
