Realism and tediousness are not the same thing. I completely disagree with your examples. On the other hand, your assertion that Eddings is 'more popular,' than GRRM leads me to finally understand the weird, winding paths that your posts create: you may be writing from a different decade than the rest of us are living in. Also, out-snarking the competition does not a winner make. Yes, well; the game is originally intended, not for GURPS realism, but for D&D minutes of abstraction. And that would be from a very different 6-second perspective than the Hit Girl's egregious exaggeration. Anywho.... Please feel free to give examples of my game style to the Troll. Sprinkle sarcasm where appropriate.

There are several very strong opinions clashing here - and it really has fuck all to do with 5e. I'm not taking sides, I know and understand CC's perspective but this cross thread clashing (it been going on in at least two different threads) is getting confusing. Same argument echoing and fractured. This is why I've sacrificed my immortal soul in return for necromantic powers. Focus the debate and take it to the 'matters of system' thread . . . I really want to hear what everyone has to say in the proper context ie: it's about opinions on systems and play styles independent of 1e 2e 3e 4e 5e or even D&D. Hell there might even be some consensus after the initial yelling. Aaron

Waiting to see when Mr CC over here will ask me 'Tits or GTFO' like in Something Awful forums...
In any case I am tired of dealing with him. I realise it will seem as if he has won and he will get excited by it but I am done.
If someone wants to be blind, elitist and a nob then be my guest... sure I am troll for disagreeing with you and I know nothing because apparently I am 'new' to the hobby (even though I started with AD&D 2nd edition and had a DM that run 1st edition as player and DM for a long time).
And as Guybrush Thripwood would say:
I'm rubber you're glue, your words bounce off me and stick to you.

A few misconceptions to clear up here. 1- I do not hang out at Something Awful forums... maybe you do but I do not know anything about that. Hopefully people are more upbeat. Maybe you need to get out more? 2- Aside from the munchkin kettle calling the pot black, I prefer new-to-the-hobby people because they bring less baggage (and by that I mean preconceived and preformatted ideas) to my table. Usually because of their experience not the lack of: You've been around the track more than a few times, which is easy enough to see by your association of the word noob. 3 - I am teflon.

In any case I am tired of dealing with him. I realise it will seem as if he has won and he will get excited by it but I am done. Some people have a different concept of "win". See, your mistake is probably thinking that winning is having irrefutable logic of persuading others to your view point. You "lost" because you thought the point was to try and prove one side or the other was correct. Some people's objective is not to justify or refute anything logically, their idea of winning is shouting till the other person shuts up. They plug their ears and shout and shout, often repeating their favorite phrases or theories, even if out of context to the discussion. They "won" the moment you offered them an opportunity to get their talking points out into the wild. They are more interested in opportunities to spout their opinions, not in having a discussion. They do things like start threads in a game system they are not interested in nor would ever play so that they can once again call all things stupid except for their perfect gaming system, created by their infallible saint, that they've invested so much of their life in that their way of life is threatened by any dissension.

Various stuff including the quote from someone who made a game in the 70s and is no longer relativeYou've been around the track more than a few times, which is easy enough to see by your association of the word noob. Nob does not equal noob.

Nob as in nob head... was referring to the style and attitude of Mr CC. Also given as I was playing 2nd edition you can imagine I am a tad bit older than my hero so no need to call in ... Also, respect is earned, not given just because you are old, young or whatever else you think you are CC. And believe me, your ululating cries of 'ououou 5th edition is the devil!!! ououou 4th edition is 666' and all this certainly hasnt made me respect you. rickno7 - you are right of course. Dont try to talk with trolls and old man crazies is something I forgot... wont happen again . Its just frustrating to see such reactions in an open and social hobby... I mean I dont say I know everything or have tried everything... but I tried 2nd edition, did even a session or 2 with first and since then tried many systems and games. I am ready to try anything and give honest feedback... its frustrating and sad how some people wear blinkers and continue their rhetoric without even trying... its like racist only backwards!

Over on this side of the pond, we spell it "knob," but what do I know, it's all Greek to me.
