Hold on . . . Did you miss the Spike Buffy sexual tension/conflict bit after Buffy is resurrected. Given the shows classification it was never shown or directly referenced BUT it was definitely implied with the additional caveat that taking advantage of someone (ie the post resurrection traumatised Buffy) by abusing a position of trust or power (ie Spike) is still rape - because Buffy said 'yes' it wasn't actually consensual as she was, to paraphrase Buffy, 'mixed up and confused'... There were always two versions of Buffy aired in the UK - the PG heavily censored and edited version and the M version shown later at night. If you are watching it with your 12 year old I suspect you are watching the heavily edited version . . . Being a huge Buffy fan at the time I watched both versions but found the edited version lost a lot in translation and could frequently leave glaring plot holes and/or leave some characters severely underdeveloped eg Riley Aaron We're not up to there yet! But point taken. And yes I'm disappointed to find the DVDs have the cut version, most notably the shoddy cut when Angelus kills Jenny Calendar witch had event my 12 year old going "what was that?" Don't get me wrong though, I'm not taking the JiB line here. Rape has a place in narratives: if it's in the world it can be in story. It even has a place in games, if any player in the group I've played with since childhood wants to commit such an act, go ahead, as long as he's ready to play out the consequences too. Mentioning WoD reminded me that my old Mage character had been a rent-boy and for an Epithany, I treated my fellow gamers to a flashback of when he had been raped. BUT I'm GMing L5R with a mixed age group including one 13 year old girl. If any one in THAT group starts anything inappropriate, that's going to get slapped down hard.

Wow, after rereading my post, I must have been in a dark and contrary place this morning. Having now actually listened to the episode (I admit that I responded before actually listening), I agree with JiB that regardless of who was sitting at the table what that guy said would be an unacceptable thing to do at a con game. As has been said before, at a con game you need to understand that you don't fucking know the other people at the table and you need to be super respectful in that type of situation. To greatly pare down my original argument: I think that categorically saying that any one thing isn't okay, ever, in rpgs starts making all the other stuff that is "okay" in rpgs much worse. However, each individual game, group, and player can and should independently establish their own boundaries, and the other members of the group are obligated to respect that. And when you're in a game with a 13-year old, well...that pretty much settles that question. My favorite part about this episode was the recurring theme that, despite the fact that it was all female gamers, they kept coming back to the same point of "well, on that topic individual preferences or opinions are more important than gender." Furthermore, I was shocked at how efficient they were at bringing in their own questions, answering questions from the chat, and covering all of Stu's e-mail. It was truly impressive.

It's clear that Stu simply doesn't care about us lowly peons in the live chat, as he sits high upon his throne of nerdom podcasting. Clearly it is possible to run a show, answer emails and respond to the chat room's questions and comments.

Kimi was using the Q&A app in G+ HoA. It's MUCH easier than monitoring the chat.
She also wasn't dealing with switching cameras.

Yep all that makeup and hair product . . . But the effort is worth it judging by the results Aaron Edit: cause Stu's got a purdy mouth, yup . . .

I've said it before - I sometimes just love to watch Stu emote during the videocast.

Plus, I'm used to dealing with 30+ kids in a classroom shouting at me. You guys are nothing compared to that. I can ignore you and not break any laws.
