I'm listening to the AP now, and I have a question:
Assamite. Is it pronounced ASS-a-mite, or a-SAM-ite? I use the former, the AP is the first time I've heard the latter.

At one point in the AP it was stated that "if you roll more 1s than successes, you've botched". I think the correct rule is that if you roll one or more 1s and you have NO successes, you've botched. If you have any successes, even if they are canceled out by 1s, it's just a failure and not a botch.

The botch rule has morphed over time. It used to be a lot easier to botch - actually getting easier the more dice you have, unfortunately.

To me, it would be like playing a game in Rokugan, but not playing samurai. Which would kinda piss me off I signed up for a con game of L5R and no one mentioned we were going to be playing naga.

This is a separate game that Stu is playing in, not running, nor does it contain the mote of sin title on the file. Ah! Sorry for confusion. I must admit I thought I'd missed something about the Sabbat in Stu's game. And at this point it should be residing in one of these subfora: happyjacks.proboards.com/board/46/campaigns

W00t! I think I missed this one the first time it came around - more WoDy goodness to sate my unholy hunger for another night!
Reflection before listening: Sabbat is tricky, but not inherently a bad choice for introductory purposes. Sure, most of my experiences of Sabbat play have been in LARP, and as such, have had a strong incentive for political play, rather then gleeful splatterpunk. Even so, the pack-structures and propensity for raiding and eating Elder vampires are an apt variant of the dungeon crawl. If presented as such; a 4-hour dungeon crawl with the PCs being lawful evil paladins; you offer old players that are merely new to the oWoD, a familiar framework to build the setting onto. With players brand new to the hobby; oooh, I dunno ...
Also, The Sabbat are a whole other flavour of horror to explore. The best comparison I can give are the witch-hunter archetypes of Hunter: the Vigil in nWoD. It is the horror of pack-mentality; of religious dogmatism and cult-like brainwashing; of acceptable collateral damage; of broken people finding camaraderie and a sense of purpose; of enslaving yourself by choice to avoid enslavement; of inquisition and persecution within own ranks, to ensure unquestioning loyalty in the pursuit of freedom* ... Let's say they are "the bad guys" among vampires, and by golly, are they convinced that they are the heroes in this story ^w^
*What, shovelhead?! You dare ask if we are aware of "irony"? You want the "freedom" to be a witless pawn in Elder machinations? The "freedom" to lick the boots of tyrants, thanking them for deigning to step on you?! I will tear out your tongue for even talking to me about freedom! I'll sow your mouth shut, have you feed through a straw; and if you dare heal and regrow your worthless flesh before we meet again, I'll do it over and over, until you have learned your lesson; do I make myself clear, shovelhead!
