Hey all, just thought I'd drop in and say hi since I made an account. I'm currently playing D&D 3.5 over the interwebs using rolld20.net and it seems to be working pretty well. A few glitches here and there but nothing big. I'm currently 3 pints of boddingtons and 2 shots of single malt into our game while fighting a black dragon so things seem to be going downhill... or uphill, the line of success seems fuzzy right now.
cheers from Irvine!

hiya. Heath here. Been a listener for over a year now, maybe coming up on two-ish at this point. Though I haven't RPG'd in decades, but I've remained on the fringe of the hobby all of these years. I enjoy the show, and the community seems pretty awesome too. Keep on keepin' on...

Almost finished with listening to the backlog over a month-long streak (broken up only by listening to bi-weekly episodes of No Agenda). I've been primarily a DnD player for 18 years, from AD&D 2nd Edition, 3.0, 3.5, a little 4.0, and then back to Pathfinder--which is my current and most preferable edition. My other gaming time has now been consumed by tabletop games such as Fluxx (every version), Dixit, Merchants & Marauders, Settlers of Catan (Basic Version w/ no expansions), Munchkin, Gloom, Flowerfall, Agricola, and my personal favorite: Innovation (and its expansions) - by Asmadi Games
I'm interested in trying out other rp systems (particularly Savage Worlds), and have even begun integrating smaller aspects of alternative systems as house rules for my current (two) Pathfinder campaigns--just to see how it might work. So far, it seems to have excellent results.
Until I find more time, money, and brainspace, I'll probably maintain this direction while I seek to expand my gaming horizons.
I love the show and I hope to both gain from and give back to the community.
Peace be with you, Rev. Mike

I haven’t played an RPG since I left Southern California over 16 years ago.
Came to RPGs not through D&D, but rather through The Fantasy Trip, Melee and Wizard…and a few other Metagaming products like Car Wars. Finally ended up with GURPS. Been exposed to a few other games and home brews along the way.
In high school and through junior college our group played once or twice a week. Got to university and couldn’t find any role players. Once I graduated I worked with a guy who loved Rolemaster, so I joined his group and then started running bi-weekly GURPS games for a few years.
Back in the eighties I was a blind tester for Steve Jackson Games and have a few additional material credits in GURPS products. That went on for a few years until Lloyd Blankenship lost by address because every two semesters I’d change dorm rooms, so they dropped me. Which was probably OK because I could not give those products a proper test. Even so I got a few articles printed backing he stone age one I think made it into Roleplayer with was the publication before Pyramid and one in the house organ for GDW, Challenge Magazine. Which was great because Challenge paid me, I think I still have a photocopy of the check around here somewhere; it was like $16, not enough to live on.
I used to listen to poetry, philosophy, and other high minded podcasts. Now I’m working through the backlog and I feel a little dirty. But it’s a good dirty, not a wake-up-like-a-glazed-donut dirty more like a see-at-a-guy-who-picked-up-something-really-heavy-and-his-pants-fell-down-but-instead-of-helping-you-laugh-uncontrollably kind of dirty. Funny, the other day I mentioned to the other half, “I’m thinking about gaming again.” She didn’t say anything but just kind of groaned, a deep tortured groan as if somewhere deep inside someone had kicked her soul in the vag. There might be some resistance there.

Hello everyone, Jim Wampler (Marvin the Mage) had mentioned your podcast to me about a month ago, and after listening to some episodes I am hooked. I just found time to sign up on the forums so I am going to look around before getting back to work. About myself... I am a native Californian living in New England and I have been a gamer for roughly about 30 years now. I run Chapter 13 Press (an indie publishing house), published a few games and have freelanced on a bunch. Currently I am the games editor for Gygax Magazine, and in my secret double life work as an instructor for a communications company. Anyway, just wanted to say hi to the forums and let the cast of the podcast know how awesome they are. As a side note, I hear mention of Southern and Northern Faire from the cast. I was part of the Blackpoint Forest Faire from 89-98 working with St. Swithin and later St. Electus, I sure miss my faire roots.

Hello all from Illinois. I've recently been hooked in to podcasts and ran across this one and I can't stop listening. Long time gamer of all sorts;tabletop rpgs, tabletop wargaming, board games and card games. I'm a hard core AD&D 2nd forgotten realms player and a warhammer fantasy gamer as well. I've been playing rpgs since the early 90s, starting with WEG Star Wars, and from there moving to AD&D to Shadowrun 2nd, to D&D 3.0 to Warhammer. I really like the podcast, even though I'm only up through the 2nd season, and I listen as much as a full time dad, husband, student and gamer.

Did you play the Enemy Within Campaign ?

Hi, there! I've listened to the show for a year or two. I registered with the old board shortly before its demise and only now registered with the new one! I entered the hobby via games based on licensed properties: Ghostbusters, Robotech, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, etc. Along the way, I adored Teenagers from Outer Space and enjoyed some GURPS and White Wolf games, too. Current favorites include early editions of Dungeons & Dragons and the first edition of the West End Games Star Wars RPG. I occasionally do artwork for indie game publishers. Two of my favorite past projects are a set of action-adventure paper miniatures and illos for a rules-agnostic fantasy worldbook, both for S. John Ross (Cumberland Games & Diversions). Hope to see you around!

Hey, folks! I'm Grant, one of the co-hosts of Saving the Game. You may know Saving the Game as the podcast Stu and the other Happy Jackers mentioned in the past couple of episodes, since along with Happy Jacks and Narrative Control, we've been involved with the rpgpodcasts.com 2012 holiday charity drive. I've been gaming since 2001, having played mostly d20 fantasy games but with a smattering of Shadowrun, Mage and a small number of con games. Happily for me, Stu's ready acceptance of my little suggestion about raising money for charities made me think "Hmm, I should give these guys a listen, since they're so generous and deserve at least that courtesy." And hey, it turned out to be an awesome podcast! So thanks to all of the HJ crew for your great work. You've got a hilarious and very informative show going and I'm delighted to have found your work. I've been carefully listening to every episode since S8:E16. A quick word about our show: Saving the Game is an explicitly Christian podcast about tabletop gaming (and a few other things when we get sidetracked.) We try to provide a resource for Christian gamers that also welcomes non-Christians. As nearly as I can tell, we're the only Christian, English-speaking RPG podcast on the Internet (that I could find, anyway.) We talk about both in-game and out-of-game problems, and usually have a good laugh while doing so. Thanks again for doing Happy Jacks -- I'm having a blast listening to it!

Welcome!
The fundraiser was a great idea, and I agree, we should bug other podcasts to join in next time. It's a shame that with so many podcasts, only three did it.

Hello Everybody Name Erik, otherwise known as Midnight. I came across the show about a year ago and have enjoyed it immensely. I've already been through the backlog, and now wait eagerly for each new episode I must say that I have to admire Stu and crews dedication to the podcast having has a short lived gaming podcast my self at one time I know how much work and energy it takes to keep something like this going, and I just want to say thank you and let you know how much I appreciate your efforts. I wasn't until I started listing to the recording of Stu's actual play episodes that I felt compelled to join because they are absolutely frikkin' fantastic; that and I began to feel guilty that I was getting so much but giving so much as a thank you in return. Please keep up the great work
