I'm runester. Every once in a while Stu plays an audio email I send in. I've been listening to HJ's from about ep 4 onward and still look forward to it every week, even the slightly-less-than-three-hours-long ones! I spend most of my online time over on the FtB forums. I have my own podcast with a significantly smaller audience and dearth of female co-hosts. Are these Related? Probably! I was pretty excited to play Mongoose Traveller because of the HJ's descriptions and I have not been disappointed. That is a fun system, and not that hard to learn, though there are a lot of 'holes' in the rules, which means there's room for GM rulings and house 'conventions' of what exactly some of this stuff means. I currently am in two (2) different gaming groups, each meets biweekly on opposing weeks. One group is taking an hiatus from Traveller, so I'm running them in a 1930's Lovecraftianesque heroic investigators game using the BASH! system. The other group decided to go old school (on a nostalgia fueled binge) and have recently started an AD&D 2ed campaign! Though, they used Microscope to collaboratively generate the setting. So, I guess there's a little indie gaming / old school gaming blend going on. One of the diabolically clever aspects of HJ's that I simultaneously enjoy and rue, is that when the episode wraps up and there's still like five or ten minutes left - the point I would normally just hit "skip to end" and move on to another episode - I can't, because then I'd miss the song at the end. So, that song at the end keeps me listening to the very last syllable of the very last word.

I created my account on the old forums only a couple weeks before they went down, so I should probably introduce myself. I've been listening since something like July of this year, and am still working my way through the older episodes. This podcast has introduced me both to great games and great beer, two of my favorite things. I'm currently running a Savage Worlds game set in Rapture from Bioshock (I believe that I got the idea from someone who wrote into the show at some point, so to whoever that is, thank you!) and I'm playing in a GURPS fantasy game.

I was a bit trepidatious about signing up since the last forum crashed a few days after I registered there, but we'll see how this goes! Greetings, I'm Jim Ryan. I write stuff. I also do audio and video stuff. When I'm not doing that, I'm usually either procrastinating or role-playing. Lately I've been playing and/or running a lot of Savage Worlds, D&D 4E, Pathfinder and a multitude of "indie" games (as the kids like to call them these days). It is also one of my missions in life to play as much Fiasco as possible.

Welcome (and welcome back) everyone! We're very hopeful that these forums will continue to grow and become strong like bull.
As way of introduction, I'm one of the hosts of the show, looooooongtime cohort of Stu's, a member of the Poxy Boggards, a game designer, audio guy, and player of numerous systems and board / card games. Current systems I'm playing or creating runs for include Traveller, Savage Worlds, Deadlands (Weird War II and Deadlands), GURPS, and Hero. Looking forward to meeting you all at the various cons as we get out to them!

This is Muertog. Relative newcomer to the podcast, got introduced to it at the last con. I'm the insane guy who caught up to all 6 seasons by playing them at 2x speed on my iPhone during my hour+ commute to work.

Greetings Ladies and Doushebags, (or would that be Doushebags and Doushebagguettes?)
Tarin here. I am amazed that my roommate did not turn me on to this podcast earlier! I have been to the Faire a few times and have seen the Boggards and the Wives more than once. Started listening 3-4 days ago and mostly through season 1. I have questions and comments, but i will try to save them...in case they get answered later.
I am currently in Orange County, and nearly crapped my pants when you started mentioning the "Galaxy" show...I drive by it EVERY DAY on my way home from work.
I wish I would have known about it, so I could have made it!
I have been playing D&D since the late 90's when i was still in middle school. I could rarely find anyone to play with since then. My current group is only about 4 regulars and was started when my room mate decided that he REALLY wanted to play again, and was willing to DM for us.
He is really a player at heart, so after about 6 months, he decided to take a break. Luckily one of the other players stepped up and now we are running through his world.
During this time I have been listening to podcasts and most noticeably the WotC podcasts with PVP and PennyArcade run by Chris Perkins. If you havent heard those, they are quite good. Made all the better by Wil Wheaton.
Well, im off to play some Skyrim and catch up on your podcast. Happy gaming!

Happy New Year all
My first RPG experience was the original 3-book D&D in 1977, and I've occasionally played later versions. I've been DMing Traveller on and off since it arrived in the UK in 1977. At that time I had to create my own background.
Over the years I've played many RPG systems (Hero, Runequest, Space Opera, The Fantasy Trip, Shadowrun, 7th Sea) and discarded others after immediately reading (GURPS Traveller). There have been long periods when I've not been able to play RPGs, or only play by post and e-mail.
Late last year (2011) I found a link to Happy Jacks podcasts on the Traveller forum "Citizens of the Imperium". I was attracted by the emphasis on fun, role-playing, and developing your own DMing skills. I'm looking forward to more DM tips.

I am new to the forum board side of HJ podcast but have been listening for a bit of time. CADave and Gammonstark basically got me into this because they would always mention it in some fashion during a group hangout so I broke down and started listening.

I caught Happy Jacks fever back in December, when I was filling free time with gaming podcasts. I'm a US Peace Corps volunteer and probably one of the only listeners in the Philippines. So if you're looking at the web traffic and noticing a bunch of downloads being initiated from the Philippines then dropping because of a bad connection, that's me.
I do almost all my gaming online now, connecting around the world to keep my old groups going. I've been running Fourth Edition in a faux-Egypt setting and I'm also a player in a Deadlands game, which will soon wrap up so we can have a season of Part-Time Adventures.
Happy Jacks really has me thinking about the way I GM and play. The sandbox game episode especially helped me think about my role in the Deadlands campaign which is definitely one of those rich setting games with an open story that I need to take more responsibility for as a player.

Heyo, I just heard about you guys on the reddit (www.reddit.com/r/rpg). You guys have been making my work much more awesome. I'm a long time gamer in Dallas, Texas. I run a weekly pathfinder game and play in a bi-weekly game of the same. Thanks to you guys I've fallen in love with Traveler. I've always liked less popular RPGs but convincing my friends to play something not D&Desque is hard. I'm looking forward to pushing my way though the backlog.
