Heya, all. I'm me. That's who I am.
I've just recently found the podcast and am working my way through the back episodes. I've been RPGing since, oh, about '82, although I only returned to the hobby about a year ago after a ~15 year absence from the hobby. D&D, AD&D, AD&D 2nd, GURPS 3rd edition, Warhammer FRP 1st edition, and Warhammer Battle were my mainstays, although I probably played or GMed a few dozen other games over the years. I came back aiming for D&D, but ended up with Pathfinder, then switched to Savage Worlds and have been there ever since.
Likewise, my wargaming urges pointed me back toward Warhammer, but I ended up with Reaper's Warlord system after reading up on GW's business practices over the last decade.

Hey,
My name is Amanda and I have listened to the podcast for a couple of years now. This is my 1st time on the forums. When I 1st started listening I went through the backlog and caught up kind of quickly while listening at work. There have been many times that my co workers have looked at me like I was crazy because I had been laughing so much.

greetings!
found the show over the summer and began at episode zero-i've worked my way through the immense backlog up to s7e17 and am both looking forward to and dreading the time when i'll be current on episodes and have to wait for them every week like everyone else-although i suppose i could just take in the backlog again
i am relatively new to RPGs, with a brief stint as a player about ten years ago and as a GM in several campaigns over the last two years, much of which has been D&D 3.5 but most recently 4e-thanks to the wonders of the googles, i've also recently had a chance to play in some one-offs in indie systems, specifically 6d6, After The End, and Our Last Best Hope-i'm looking to add players to my google+ D&D campaign and i'm also looking to try as many new (to me) systems as i can, with particular interest in Savage Worlds, Traveler, and GURPS thanks to this and other podcasts

Hello All, My name is Pete but tend to go by Athos on line. Just finished going through the backlog, filling and yummy as it is, and finally feel qualified to start posting I'm an old fart who has in fact had the privilege of having played in one of Stu's games back in the early 90's in Long Beach. I met Stu through Eric Aldrich. Eric had been my roommate in collage for a while at UCB and had introduced me to Stu's gaming group when I moved to SoCal for work so many years ago. By the way, Eric has just had his second kid and I want to offer my congratulations. I also want to give him a hard time because I found this podcast by accident, you think he might have mentioned it to me when I was raving at him about Fear the Boot. Those were the days 15 to 20 gamers shoved into that little apartment and best of all Stu killed my heroic wizard/necromancer in the climactic battle with his big bad. Proving to me that sometimes it's more fun for my character to die as long as it's cool and meaningful. I started with D&D Basic in the 70's and moved on to AD&D, Top Secret, Gamma World, The Fantasy Trip, Paranoia, GURPS, and eventually Hero. I tend to play and run Hero these days when I get the chance though I did buy a full set of 4e books and ran a number of games for my group before we decided that the system really didn't work for us. I have a lovely wife, and 5 year old boy so gaming time can be hard to come by. I want to thank you guys for all I've learned about beer from this podcast and the occasional bit gaming knowledge as well. Hoping to be more active on the forum and schedule more time gaming. A toast to our wives and girlfriends, may they never meet. Pete/Athos

Welcome, all!
Pete, I'm embarrassed to say, I don't remember the events of which you speak. I do remember having a game with a HUGE number of players.
Do you remember anything else from the session that might jog my memory?

Hi Stu, I'm not surprised it was just over 20 years ago. You had a huge group and while I just have to remember one GM you had a lot of faces looking back at you. In general terms it was a GURPS game, in a fantasy world, with an airship. I hardly knew any of the other players except Eric of course, and my roommate John. I remember you had a co-gm but his name escapes me and I remember a guy named Stevie who stands out in my mind because he weighed less than my gaming bag. While I, like Eric, and yourself, tend to be somewhat larger. If I ever find my old character sheet I'll put up a picture, not because you'll remember it but because I believe someone stamped "DEAD" in red ink across it when I died. I got a kick out of that. Oh other thing that I remember about that session is that I used some sort of telekinesis spell to grab the big bad guy so one of our barbarian types could do a called shot on him and the big bad guy sent an energy charge back along my spell and blasted me with it. It was very cinematic. It was a very enjoyable character death

Yeah, I used to have a rubber stamp with DEAD on it in large, friendly letters.
Your roommate John ... was he an artist?

He was a bit of an artist, a bit of a writer, and a part time student.

Hi All, Quixote here from the Philippines! I've been looking for Happy Jack's listeners in the Philippines but I have no luck. Because of Happy jack's since last December when I started consuming the backlog I've gotten back into gaming and have restudied and relearned all the systems I used to play. The systems are DnD 3.5, Pathfinder, Traveller, Fuzion (my "Savage Worlds), NWOD, Savage Worlds, Battletech, DnD5E, Rifts, OSRIC, L5R 4E, SIFRP, Fate (spirit of the Century). Trying to be as system agnostic as possible, but GURPS is my most mastered system. It gets me how people can complain about learning the system. An Uber munchkin, I used to run Epic Games about 10 years ago in 3.0-3.5. From 1998-2001 I was an active member of Alliance of Eclectic Gamers and Interactive Storytellers (AEGIS) and learned the whole bulk of my gaming. This is when my brothers and I learned about most of the game systems I've mentioned as part of promoting the hobby. Unfortunately immaturity was the downfall of the RPG scene, from 2001 onward gaming groups stopped hanging out with each other and became insular. Hope to be picking up the mantle I left 12 years ago, I hope to be able to promote the hobby and I've been learning and applying the lessons in rebuilding and promoting tabletop RPGs. It helps that I have more resources than a starving artist and a fully formed frontal lobe. I've listened so much that I have an uncomfortable familiarity with the personalities and I don't even know you guys  Currently as I write this I am about to finish s8e3. I predict two more weeks to catch up to current season.
