There's definitely a change in the role playing from the first couple sessions.
The players got the characters as pregens, so it took a while for them to acclimate to them, since the character concepts weren't theirs.
And I look at Engrish accents like superpowers. If everyone has an Engrish accent, no one has one.
Now if they were to meet some sort of Gaijin quasi-Westerner, they would sound like Texans.

I think that happens even when you've created the character for yourself. It takes you a bit to really get inside their head and understand what really makes them tick.
Very often, I won't really try to flesh that out pre-game, and let it develop organically as I go. Most of my favourite characters developed that way.

I was talking to Stu about this, and basically, I didn't invest much in the character because we were play testing, I was learning the system and setting and frankly, I honestly didn't expect to live very long.
Now that we are 3 games in, with no signs of slowing, Its time to add some personality to my character. I'm sure once I do that, he'll die.......
As too the accents, Tyler and Stu are right, it would be be all types of wrong to do this in Ingrish, as well as well as making it difficult for any non offended listeners to understand.

I think I've been tripping up this thread by using the term "accent". What I like to hear/utilize for actual play games is a "distinct" voice. I am hearing more of that in Stu's game now and it really helps create more of a radio drama feel. I recall that a "signal" for out of character conversation had been used in past games; which doesn't work well for an audio only. Even G + games benefit from a perceivable shift in voice/tone/pacing to let the group know "my character says this". Just a further clarification.

I think the reason Stork rolls so well w/ d10s is becuase the lowest number on a D10 is techniclly a 0 (even if it stands for 10). Its the only time his curse will allow him to roll lower than a 1.... :-)
