So, am I up for running another session of Monsterhearts with you guys? I'm compelled to find out what happens to Zed, Lou-Lou, and Merrill. There's simply too much cool stuff going on with everyone to just leave it at a one-shot. Plus, maybe we can get sirguido in on a session. I'm going to do up character portraits and a classroom/relationship map to post here soon. Have you guys decided on last names for your PCs? By the way forresst, thanks for whipping up that spreadsheet mid-game so we could see where everyone sat. It was super helpful.

Excellent News Hyve! So Lou Anne Lorraine Cyphre (Lou LouCyphre) Get it ?? The movie I was trying to think of before I had a turning 39 moment was Angel Heart which if you haven't seen it... Do It! Do It!Waaaaay back in 1987 when the sweetheart of the Cosby show decided to get nekid and do voodoo and dance with a bloody chicken and have sexy time with a then still attractive (before he became all bloated) Mickey Rourke set in the swampy south. And the main antagonist...one Louis Cyphre played by an amazingly creepy egg rolling Robert Deniro. Who Lou Lou likes to call Big Daddy... "ain't he just the most sweetest thang you evah saw ??"

Zed? Well, a lot of people just know her as Zed, and that's probably not even her real name since you know... Zed?! Who the hell names their baby Zed? Jeeze. Zed Morrow is what shows up on her records. Not that that helps much. She lives with the Sherritt family. Not that they notice much.

I haven't listened to the recording of our game yet (been busy editing other audio stuff), but after letting things percolate in my brain there are a metric ton of questions still left for you guys. For Zed: - Why exactly is Tyler, the 'normal' track star, so damn interesting to her? Is it a power thing, or is there some weird sexual attraction?
- Were she and her family happy before they died, or were they a broken, dysfunctional mess? Who was her family? Any brothers or sisters? How did everyone die? How does she feel about being rejected by death?
- What was she like before she died? Was she always a bad ass who only cared about herself, or is her disaffected state a result of being "reborn"? Does she see her rejection as a rebirth, or as a curse? Is she trying to "fix" herself, or is she enjoying this potential "immortality"?
- We haven't seen the Sherriff family yet. What are they like? Do they really not care about her? Why did they agree to be her foster parents in the first place then? Do they have other kids, either biological or adopted? Younger or older than her?
For Merrill: - When did dad leave? Is he still alive? Does mom know where he is? Did he leave as a result of your powers "awakening", or for another reason?
- What happened at your old city/town when your powers awoke? It must have been bad if you and mom felt you had to leave. Do you keep in contact with anyone from "back there"? Or have you cut off all contact for their safety or due to guilt at what you did? Or have you been cut off? Have you ever run into someone from "back there" since moving? Did they recognize you? What happened?
- Again, why was Tyler interesting enough to cheat on Rick with? Did you know Zed was into him? Is he just a frequent hook up, or is he something more?
- How long have you been using that empty supply closet on the third floor as a place to hide? You've stocked it with food, how much do you have up there? A day's worth? A week's? A month's? What or who are you trying to hide from up there? How has no one discovered it yet? Did you cast some sort of spell on it to make it undetectable, or an illusion to make it appear empty? Or did you just stick a big padlock on the door?
For Lou Lou: - Are you and Bubba actually siblings or are you just pretending? Since you're the 'firstborn of the hive mind' did you "corrupt" him, or was he simply Big Daddy's second "child"? Have you always been 'first born', even back in the old cult, or are you the big shot now only because you and Bubba were the only ones who escaped?
- Do people retain their individuality once inducted into the cult? In the long run? Like, after years go by, will Rick, Kaitlyn, Bubba, Zach, and Nicolas still be themselves? Or will they become a collective "them" with you or Big Daddy directing them like drones? Has anyone ever escaped from or been rejected from the cult? How and/or why?
- What did she do to make Professor Ward suspicious of you? How much does he know? What is she going to do about him?

Zed says: 1) Since her first death, she's gotten pretty used to a cycle of people get interested, then people get spooked, then people get the hell away from her. Tyler? Well, Tyler did the same cycle as everyone else but somewhere along the line he swung back just far enough to continue being nice to her. Nothing terribly extreme, but talking to her, commenting on interesting haircuts, you know... general pleasant politeness. Which, sad as it sounds, is WAY more than most people have for her. So slowly she kinda realized that hey, this is a pale shade of what her family was. Well, kinda. That part's hard to explain. And so, she's attached herself to him in her mind. 2) Her family was a fractured, really dysfunctional mess. There was the whole messy divorce thing, and even before that there was the "my parents got disowned by everyone else" thing. It's of a religious nature. Her extended families on both sides are pretty devout to their separate faiths, so when they married... it was shit city from the first date. Eventually they couldn't do it anymore. She had a couple brothers. One older, one younger. The three kids were pretty tight. They figured they had to stick together, so they did. They lived with their mom for the most part. Her dad would pick them all up for special visits, and usually they took vacation with their dad. The secret is, her mom got pretty heavily into the drink. Hard to cope. And her choice of men AFTER Zed's dad was... really shady. They all died at once. They were all together. The kids were getting handed off to the dad for an outdoors fishing vacation. They were meeting up with her dad at a gas station, he didn't have a van of his own so he rented one for these trips, so they'd all meet up while he was putting the first tank in. The new boyfriend was driving, mom was too drunk to drive again. But then they got in a fight. There was the usual yelling and threats but then as they got closer to the station the fight heated up. So much so that the boyfriend stopped looking at where he was going and just as he reached out to slap the shit out of her mom... he hit the gas pump. With the car. While her dad was filling his tank. The whole place blew. Took a couple employees, an old lady and her dog out with them. Zed woke up on a slab. Death had been kind of interesting but yeah. Something about innocent victims and "no place at the inn". Something about not getting out of obligations that easily. It's all pretty fuzzy but she knows the bright light you're supposed to see, got shut off when it was her turn to walk toward it. The rejection almost hurts but at the same time it's kind of awesome. She's still not sure what to think of it all. 3) Oh, actually, before she died Zed was a quiet, timid, total neurotic mess. She tried her best in everything but she's always been quite small and quite mousy. This whole extremely slow aging thing hasn't really helped her case at all. She suffered from a lot of anxiety. She cared about a lot of people. Almost everyone she saw actually. But... not anymore. I mean, let's be honest. A lot of the people she cared about the most before she died didn't give one whit about her, and when Death itself has no time for you, something breaks. She doesn't know really whether the rejection is a curse or a rebirth. She barely understands it, to be honest. She knows she was rejected because there was something left out in this world for her to see or do or... something. She figures she'll know it when it happens. Or she won't. She's got all the time in the world to get it right now. She's not so much trying to fix anything, and really fundamentally she has trouble grasping the idea that immortality isn't actually normal. The thing that actually troubles her? It's the distance she feels between her and the rest of the world now. Like all of a sudden her skin turned three feet thick. 4) The Sherritts? Oh, they're nice enough. They're a pretty normal, older couple now. They have kids but most of them are adults. The youngest is still around but he's in college and doesn't interact much with Zed. They care. But, they've fostered Zed for the last 3 years now, and they just don't know how to deal with her. She's not always as badass as she was in Bio that morning. Usually, she's actually really just incredibly withdrawn. She doesn't talk much. She doesn't make friends. The Sherritts are quite concerned. They know she's really not normal but they've also seen way worse in terms of foster kids. At least Zed isn't into wilful destruction of property, and she's not a cutter. She is prone to the occasional lashing out. But at the same time, the triggers are pretty predictable. You don't sneak up on Zed. You don't touch Zed unless she can see you. You don't try to physically force Zed into anything. You respect those 3 little things and she actually makes very little problems. But when she lashes out, man, she does some damage. Undeath made her strong. Undeath made her ruthless. Yep. crreeeeeeepy!
