You wanted feedback and so here it is: "You've been a very naughty boy" No, seriously, it was a pleasant surprise to find 18a downloading to my phone this morning, as I cued up 18 to listen to again while I cleaned out the chickens. So bonus episodes? Yay! Yes please. But really you are asking about the format, and obviously, this is a very different beast from the group shows. Now, the banter and witty repartee that is missing from sorry, that is the feature I so enjoy in the regular shows, is ... Errr constrained in your one man presentation, but on the other hand, it's nice to hear you complete a sentence without Jib interrupting! I wonder how your correspondents feel about not having everyone around to pile in with comments on their emails, gaming questions and horror stories. For example was the author of the magic weapons piece disappointed to to hear other points of view? Then again, I had an email in the mix last week, which sparked very little comment. Probably because being the godhead I am (yay me) my "thought bombs" were like unto the commandments carved into stone, so there was no argument from the 'bags, just open mouthed awe and humble agreement. (Which is cool.) If my email hadn't made the cut for e18, and found itself into 18a I wonder what your singular response may have been? Would you still have fucked up my initials (I noticed on re-listening that Gina got it right, so how come you didn't - remember its Emm, fucking Tee, Jay. Surely that ain't so hard?) So anyhow, I think I'm saying it was great to have a little bonus show to listen to, and I wouldn't have minded of an email of mine only made the solo show either, so... thumbs up.

I enjoyed the show very much. I think an up front explanation should always be used so a new listener doesn't think this is all that the regular show is.
As a suggestion, could you try to line up interviews in advance of fair. I realize they would take prep but if you arranged them far enough in advance you could ask the other host and or forum for questions.

What is the sound of one Stu podcasting... (Wise Shinsei would know...)
I appreciated the fact that in the midst of what sounds like a crazy month of fair, real life, and a podcast every other week; you still tried to clean up your own backlog. (I will refrain from any further fecal comparisons as its even starting to make me feel a bit queasy).
One man shows like this one I would recommend that you emphasize the Blurb! as a reminder to those who want to cram your email/voicemails again as well as respond further on the forums to those you read on your solo show.
And dare I say it...perhaps G+ communication has become refined enough in the last year or so that now you could have a few hosts be on the show through that format. (I understand it will never be anywhere approximating the sound you get in studio).
My comment to Shoe's email and to anyone struggling to find a larger quality group of gamers is to start right here and get involved in some HJ's members G+ games. I have a gaming group way up here in Alaska that meets every other week or so and its great! But through G+ games I've played L5R, Dungeon World, Monsterhearts, Paranoia.
With Jackercon just 65 odd days away I hope to get to play many more systems with a group of people that are for the most part on the same page as I am about what makes RPG's fun.
The future of RPG's is in the Intertubes...
Cheers and thanks again for a Very Special Alone With Stu Episode.

My take is that there were positives and negatives to the show. Positives: Great to clean out some VM and some general emails that aren't discussion inducing or generalized questions. Keeping these style episodes short is also key. Negatives: When it comes to broader and theoretical questions, this format lacks a bit. The good thing about the various hosts is that they bring different aspects of gaming/GMing to the table. We can probably predict what certain people may feel on various topics, but that conversation is the key. It was an interesting listen for sure, but if it were to be something that popped up in the future, it may be better for gaming horror stories and emails very pointed questions. That would require the dreaded pre-screening.

It was a pleasant surprise to find a new show ready to download.
Listened to it this morning and while I missed the back and forth banter it was still fun to listen to.

Just getting around to listening to this today, and I'm only about halfway through at this point... Pros: I like getting to hear Stu's full opinions on things and getting some background without everyone running all over each other and interrupting. I like hearing comments to emails without Stork repeating everything he's said in the last 10 episodes(Love ya Stork! ). Cons: Its missing that thing that makes Happy Jacks feel like Happy Jacks... the feel of a couple friends shootin the shit. Not that its necesarily a crippling factor, just felt odd. Maybe if you can't get your regular hosts in, it might be an opportunity to Skype or Google + in some listener guest hosts? Just a thought.

I thought it was a pretty good show, and I think that is because the topics were pretty entertaining as well. I think if Stu picks the emails and voicemails with this kind of show in mind, it can be a pretty good show. The problem... some people write in specifically for a round table type of discussion, so I would be careful not to do those during the 1 man shows. It might reduce the amount of people writing in if they think they won't get the Happy Jack's experience with their emails.
Perhaps Stu could specifically ask for emails for the one man show? That way they are targeted for that kind of experience?

I enjoyed listening to the show. I think the format could work if it's used sparingly and as a last resort (i.e. no one else could make it and there would otherwise be no show for an extended length of time).
One thing to remember is that what the e-mailers lose in variety of perspectives, they gain in focus/lack of tangents!

I like that Stu took the time to make a special pod cast. Good on you for that.
If you were to go in this direction, I am a fan of the two man episodes in days of yore with Stork or whoever. There is something about the conversational tone that I found very appealing. I remember Stu and Stork were concerned that it would be boring, but I found them to be revealing and had a less hurried quality.
Keeping this episode short was a positive and having voice mails was good because one person reading email to himself and commenting is not as dynamic as having another person in the room.
I like that Stu was able to more fully voice his opinion, sometimes it seems he deferrs to others in the room, acting more in the role of an MC to keep things moving, and it was nice to hear his side.

Yes good point about the timing. Just under half an hour feels just right for a bonus show.

Stu -
Thanks for taking the time to put out the 'one-man' episode. Although I thoroughly enjoy the weekly carnival of wit the standard Happy Jack's episode embodies, your solo episode was also enjoyable -- it certainly brightened up mowing my lawn yesterday!

I enjoyed it, but wouldn't want it to replace the normal format. It's a nice addition and filler in between "real" shows. As others said, hearing Stu's voice alone did provide different perspectives, which is fine for variety. Keep up the good work, in whatever format.

I really liked the effort and thought it was a nice solution to your hectic situation. I don't really know if I would have wished for to get one of me emails during one of this one man episodes, since the round talbe discussions is what's great with your podcast. But since you are doing such a splendid work with the normal podcast and pour so much of yourselves for us fans' sake, I think you definitely deserve to take a softer and more relaxed approach at times and just produce one man shows. I don't mind. :-)
And Stu, don't say you don't have any feelings. Anger, lust and disappointment are feelings to, you know.
