I'm just waiting for the first sock puppet initiated and thinly disguised 'in defence of min/maxers' thread . . . (rather I live in hope) . . . Aaron

there is already a 'in defense of changing characters' thread so you might not have to wait long.

When I make sock puppets, they don't even pretend to not be sock puppets. You know I don't have any sock puppets because there is no "Socky McHandinbutt". Yet.

I would love to see some of these people's faces when they hear Stu talk about sock puppets. They probably didn't know what the term meant, and was unaware that they were less than anonymous.
Now, the best though, is that under the old Karma system, they could see who gave karma. So, and I'm not pointing fingers, but IF someone made sock puppets to stroke their own egos and up their karma ratings, I'm sure it made Stu giggle.

Fuck me, people would do that??? that's like dressing your hand up with a wig and lipstick and calling it your girlfriend . . . personally I'm glad the karma system has gone it was wank that I tended to ignore (like friends/likes on facebook . . . who gives a shit along as you're communicating with people you want to communicate with). . . I don't have any.
But now I kind of feel like I could do it now and it would be like an inside joke with Stu.
It's sort of tempting.......

Ok. I'm telling you right now that changing your character mid game is 80% of the time because the character wasn't developed enough. This is all the player's fault. This has happened to me more than once in games that I've run, and I get more and more pissed when players pull this bullshit on me. I can smell it from a mile away now. When a player tells me they want to play their character because "it's cool" they will be done with that character within 4 game sessions. "Cool" does not a playable character make. A deep, invested, real character in the context of the world on the other hand, is playable forever. I have fixed more than one player who was fickle in this manner by providing them with story investment. They make a character that they think is "cool" by whatever retarded standards they have, and I make them inject that "cool" character with real motivations, desires, flaws, and goals. They will play that character forever. Changing characters is a flaw in player's abilities to create characters in which they can be emotionally invested. As a GM, you have to identify them before the game starts, and MAKE THEM make a real person instead of a page with numbers. I didn't say dirty words NEARLY enough in that post. Balls ass shit smell taint hair pussy fart. aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh. that's better. Attachments:

Aaron You'd be surprised. Some people have fragile egos and go to such lengths. I've seen people with separate Facebook accounts(one professional, one for their family) hit "like" with each of them their own comments. This same person knew how to cheat on a certain quiz show type game and somehow always had hugely high scores. I could watch them log in and out for about 10 minutes, his little green chat dot would disappear and re-appear. He was resetting the question after getting it wrong, and picking the right answer with inhuman speed. Then post a huge ass score so everyone would marvel at how awesome he was. The sad part is he would complain that the game needed to make the questions more hard in a comment after the score post.
