I believe we should extend the invitation to the forums resident trolls . . . maybe even reserve a place for them? 'cause they're funny and sorta cute . . . Aaron Oh fuck! An ALL TROLL CAST! could be rather funny...or painfully not. . (Like when Fox News did their version of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart....psst Kainguru those are all yank wanker references). How do I "not like" a post. Not all of us are from a country full of Dropbears or look at the guys on Deadliest Catch as a bunch of Prima donna wimps. Some of us ignore the trolls, like we're passing a homeless guy on the street. I do believe these were all put forward in jest. . Sarcasm rarely translates well to the printed word. That's why Cervantes hung out in prison for so long...

I've said it before and I'll say it again: they (trolls) have really got to try harder and step up their game, honestly we're better at trolling ourselves than they are and none of us are even trying . . . Soooo....*hands under chin* waddya fellas/ladies wanna talk about ? . Might be nice to do a sort of: Lets Meet the Douche Bags session. Where you could introduce yourself (I don't know who the roster is yet, this weekend I'll get to it), describe how you got into RPGs, the podcast, etc. Then just spin some yarns (best game ever?, worst game ?, favorite system ?, least ?, what do you love about the hobby, what do you hate, what are you bored with...What are you running right now/playing in/related RPG projects?). Thoughts, suggestions ?

Thoughts, suggestions ? Yeah I think let's just play it by ear. Minor introduction, games we like/don't. Pretty much everything in the above sounds fine.

Yeah a "lightning round" where you get one minute to answer a list of randomly determined (using d20) questions...I keep thinking of a format like this:
But more than likely it will all just end up with an inspector walking into the room...

I have a lot of advice for you guys.
Double-enders Having both (or many)parties record themselves during a show is called a double-ender. There are a few challenges with them.
1) You need to synch everyone, which you can do with a countdown, etc. Also, if someone has a more robust system, they can record themselves to one track and the audio feed from google hangouts to another. Both techniques work fine.
2) If you're editing, someone has to bite the bullet to collect all the audio, fly it all in to audacity or whatever and learn the software well enough to be able to edit multiple tracks simultaneously. Most software will do this, but you need to learn how. Audio software is not known for being intuitive. This is also a time-consuming proposition. It will take you -- at the very least -- the runtime of the show to edit it. Probably longer.
3) Occasionally, you'll get an audio file from someone that is either shorter or longer than the rest, even though they started and stopped recording at the same time. I don't know exactly why this is -- my guess is that their software clock is not accurate and the program is either over or under sampling. This is a real problem. With a robust recording package, you can stretch and compress audio without it causing artifacts. I doubt Audacity can do this (but maybe I'm wrong, who knows). If you can't stretch or compress the wav file, you have to manually cut and nudge the audio to put it in the right place.
With the RPG Podcasters Roundtable, I assume I'm using the audio from G+ Hangouts and we record a double ender mostly as a backup.
Bandwidth
I *strongly* suggest everyone on the show run a speedtest.net test prior to connecting to G+HOA. For audio and video, G+HOA likes 1 mbps up and 2-3 mbps down. You can run it lower and degrade your video quality (or shut it off if necessary).
Number of Hosts
As most of you have noticed, we now have a limit of four hosts per show. It took us a while to figure out the right number of people for a good conversation. When there's more than four, people start talking over each other, people are waiting so long to talk that they forget what they were going to say, etc. We've even had people start side conversations with other hosts on mic.
The problems you can have with too many hosts will only be compounded by doing it on-line, rather than in-person.

Stu Venable - I've heard of something called studio mode on hangout, which prioritizes audio, have you messed with that?

That I've not heard of. I know you can degrade or shut off your video to save bandwidth for audio -- maybe that's what they call it, but I just know it as the little settings thingy?
