Yeah the editing of audio seems like a motherfucker especially since we are looking at least 4 audio tracks to mash together.
I would think we could try optimizing G+ for sound and if it ends up being total shit then we can either figure this out or say fuck it.

Soooo....*hands under chin* waddya fellas/ladies wanna talk about ? . Might be nice to do a sort of: Lets Meet the Douche Bags session. Where you could introduce yourself (I don't know who the roster is yet, this weekend I'll get to it), describe how you got into RPGs, the podcast, etc. Then just spin some yarns (best game ever?, worst game ?, favorite system ?, least ?, what do you love about the hobby, what do you hate, what are you bored with...What are you running right now/playing in/related RPG projects?). Thoughts, suggestions ? Maybe a virtual 'wheel of topics' ? Aaron I actually came up with a better suggestion. So the intro thing is fine. But instead of coming to the 'cast with a predetermined list of topics, every host comes with two topics. And you roundtable that. I figure two is good in case someone else has a similar topic or a topic is quickly finished.

It might be a cool idea to have a proficient GM run system x and then have the group talk about it? Or maybe a general "Let's talk about x" round.

It might be a cool idea to have a proficient GM run system x and then have the group talk about it? Or maybe a general "Let's talk about x" round. (Yeah so I like my own posts...I'm a bit of an egotist.) This is what I'm doing with my Pathfinder group (episodes pending). A sort of post game wrap with color commentary. I also think of it as a sort of "money where your dice are..." Sure some people run on a bit about system, the glory of crunch, how d20 sucks, how savage worlds is lame, etc...but here's an example that YOU CAN ACTUALLY LISTEN TO (or watch...) of how a group does things and then you can listen to them break down what works and what doesn't. RPPR does this a bit (but pssst....I REALLY don't enjoy their APs very much...but don't tell anybody ). The problem with this guitarspider, at least for this lil' project is playing a game and then sitting down to talk about it does take a VASTLY larger amount of time. Not that I'm adverse to this, its just that I can happily say that I'm now playing nearly three games a week! My card is fantastically rather full at the moment. BUT, if a group of like minded individuals are feeling motivated? I would love to listen to this! Stu's L5R game gets brought up in passing but it would be very interesting to talk about it in depth at some point maybe after all the dust settles. Heres a thought! Perhaps at some point during the week (most likely towards the end) we could have a Jackercon III wrap up round table where all the GMs could come on and talk about their games (and not be blindingly drunk and filled with a room of yelling people) and how they went. Here's another inquiry: What are your current top 5 favorite RPG podcasts besides this one and its APs ? I've grown a bit frustrated with some of them and was hoping that maybe there was one I WASN'T currently listening to...Just a reminder to me of what a rare gem Happy Jacks actually is. 1. Gamer's Table 2. 2 GMS 1 Mic 3. Fear the Boot 4. Ken and Robin Talk About Stuff 5. Postcards from the Dungeon And honestly I can listen to about one of those a day, and I still have a giant shoggoth of a backlog to wade through. I just don't enjoy them as much, where with HJ's I find myself going back and listening to old episodes and laughing and learning. And thats what its all about folks...the laughing and the learning. #wheresthataussiedwarf?

I used to listen to craptons of RPG podcasts... but between my hearing problems and shitty audio quality most have fallen by the wayside. It's mostly HJ these days - I'm about to start my sixth trip thru the backlog. Besides HJ, it's Fear the Boot mostly, with trips back thru the Actual People Actual Play archive from time to time.

And thats what its all about folks...the laughing and the learning. #wheresthataussiedwarf? I can sometimes listen to Gamer's Table, but I can't listen back to back episodes they can kind of annoy me. I listened to most of the episodes of 2 GMs 1 Mic, until I realized they just bore the heck out of me and nearly every "Game of the Week" isn't good. I listen to Fear the Boot. It's fine, but they can occasionally talk about video games for quite a while which I have no interest in. But until I found HJ my favorite 'cast was Dice of Doom. They used to post a lot more frequently and but it's a solid cast with an appropriate amount of juvenile humor and rpg talk. So once you're done with their 45 episodes you can go back to re-listening to HJ re-runs. I really dug the Walking podcast's Dungeon World Episodes. But haven't listened to anymore. Other non-rpg podcasts I listen to is StarTalk with Neil Degrasse Tyson and Harmontown (which after episode 5 or 6 has a regular D&D segment)

Time is certainly an issue, even if we keep it to one-shots (which is probably the only way this is going to happen). I just suggested it, because it offers something the podcast doesn't really do, so the additional value would be fairly clear. I also think we have a lot of people here who know games that are not that mainstream (Strontium Dogs/Traveller) or semi-forgotten (STORMBRINGER!!!), it would be cool to tap that knowledge. I guess it might work as a introduction episode of sorts with a host and two or three guests who know the system? As for RPG podcasts, Actual People Actual Play would have been number one for me (after HPJ), but it's podfaded, much to my chagrin. That was a truly excellent podcast. The rest I regularly listen to: 1. Jank Cast 2. Walking Eye 3. Postcards from the Dungeon 4. Idle Red Hands Fear the Boot is not bad, but it started to bore me a bit and I'm not a huge fan of editing a conversation like they do. Occasionally an episode will look interesting to me, I guess that makes it 5. I've tried a lot of other casts over the last few years, because lonely archive work ftw or something, but none of them has managed to keep me interested for more than a couple of episodes.

Never mention you listen to Idle Red Hands we don't need HyveMynd's head getting any bigger. The only problem I see with the one-shot game followed by podcast is that is changes the scheduling dramatically with some host living across the world it is a lot easier to find 1 to 2 hours when the stars align, but finding a 4 hour block is difficult. And I see this 'cast as being a imitation of something we all enjoy. I don't feel the need to try to do something it doesn't or in anyway become it's peer. But I'm happy to shoot the breeze with you fine upstanding gentlemen and Aaron (who's a cunt).

Not saying we need to do something different just to be different or to compete with HPJ in any way. It was just an idea that popped into my head anyway. But I do feel we should try to make this worthwhile (else why would people want to listen), and something that adds to the podcast that the regular hosts don't really do is an easy way of doing that, that's all. If we can do it without major investment, why not? For example, it was cool to hear D.T. Pints talk about online gaming and roll20 on the podcast, but do we really need to rehash that in a listener episode? I can just go back to the episode if I really want to hear it again. We'd probably want a different angle or focus on something specific about roll20.

I see it more as a logical extension of this forum . . . it's a feedback loop with HJP at the center. The information flows both ways (between HJP and the listeners) already on this board, a z-team podcast should be more like a dialogue with both HJP and the board. Why? because saying something is a fuck ton clearer and more concise than writing it . . . subtle nuances and meanings can be communicated verbally much easier than the written medium I'm using now - with the added benefit of an immediate response to explore the very things we spend hours typing over: shooting the shit just like I think we all would if we ever got our collective arses together an met at a convention bar (it would have to be a very well stocked bar at that and tolerant). Unlike HJP I don't think the listener ship would ever grow much beyond the committed souls that inhabit this little corner of cyberspace . . . I might be wrong (cause I am a cunt ) but people would only ever find us thru HJP first much like this forum . . . Which is to say I'm sitting on that fence again with a picket up my sphincter by suggesting that it be a compromise between the two (including D.T. Pints quote) suggestions above . . . Aaron

All of this! For now I can commit to an hour bullshit session that would be seen as a supplement to what is going on in the HJ world. What games are we playing, what do we want to run, gaming styles etc...etc...THEN....after we have introduced our CHARACTERS...somewhere down the line we can plan to create some APs with guest GMs and such. Some people complain..."FUCK! Not another RPG podcast! But in all actuality I don't feel like there is ENOUGH content out there that reflects THIS COMMUNITY'S views regarding RPGs...bring on more and more I say...(and occassionally shout in all caps.) . Gotta go...I'VE GOT A GURPS STEAMPUNK GAME TO PLAY IN...heh...heh....

Featuring bloodsparrow, sbloyd, @moi (I hope someone username isn't moi... ) The sound quality for google hangouts just gets better and the fact that Ithaqua the Windwalker tried to smash in my house the night before didn't seem to create too serious of lag issues. If we can keep it simple like this I'm all for doing more as it was very fun hearing about Happy Jack's fans origin stories and gaming ideas. If any of you fine people would like to take part just let me know! Mayhaps (THAT'S A WORD FUCKIN' SPELLCHECKER!) next week my amazing GURPS Steampunk crew would like to be the guests after we all die horrible deaths at the hands of some handlebar mustache, mechwielding (that's not a word I agree) douchebag. (Can't we get the Happy Jack's forums to recognize douchebag as one word ?) Guess not. Well I've had too much coffee again...here's the vidja. Cheers!
