I've gotta give a plug to our even more-local convention (well, for us Quad-Cities gamers)! The first annual Xenocon is set to take place on April 21 and 22 at the Duck Creek Lodge in Davenport, Iowa. The Guest of Honor for this inaugural convention is none other than Frank Mentzer! Xenocon FlierMark it on your calendars, gamers of the Midwestern US! (And anyone else who'd be willing to come out for a small convention.) It's gonna be a great weekend of gaming! There'll definitely be a few HJ listeners attending, and there's a pretty good chance that anybody who didn't get a chance to try out that Grindhouse thing will get another opportunity... I've talked with the guy who is organizing the whole thing (he's pretty much footing the bill himself), and I'm impressed. I really want to see this hometown convention do well. Thus, I'm passing on the invites to all y'all!

I'll do my best to make this one, but after Gamicon in February, and a fairly expensive trip to Milwaukee coming up in March for the Midwest Gaming Classic, I'm not sure my wife would be all that keen for me to drive 2.5 hrs and get another hotel in April for Xenocon. I'll see what I can wrangle tho, it would be a blast to see you and the group again.

I'm hoping to make it! Pending approval from the boss (wife)...

We'd love to see you guys again!
And now that V-Day is safely behind us (and I've sufficiently buttered up my bride), I can finally confirm that AzureTalon and I will be running the Grindhouse Arena once again on Saturday afternoon/evening.

I'll be there for sure! Not 100% sure what all I'll be running. Perhaps my horror game with Sam once again. Or perhaps something with Azuretalon. Thinking of staying away from running Pathfinder this time around. Should be a fun gathering!

So, my name has been invoked a number of times, so I'll just go ahead and make it official that I will be there myself. Can't want to grind up some more PC's, me and Munt are in the very, very early stages of planning something really special if we can finish it on time. If not, I might dust off "Scalped" that Veremond helped me write and took out to the last Orccon.

I was hunting around... they don't have a website, do they? Or anything that says what events/games are planned?
Are they expected to have one closer to the event?
I suppose it's the first one ever, so nobody may actually know the answers to these questions..

I'm extremely excited about a QC gaming convention - enough so that I've actually volunteered and joined in the group of guys who are organizing the whole damn convention. There isn't a website yet (the head honcho's working on that), but there is a facebook event page for the convention. For right now, that's the best we've got. I just finished the first rough draft of the convention program book last night, and yeah, we'll have it posted ASAFP. For now, I can definitely say that there will be Pathfinder Society games, a Magic the Gathering tourney, probably an L5R CCG tourney, the Grindhouse, and several games run by Frank Mentzer himself (!!!). And a bunch of board games, too - we're gonna set up a games library similar to the one that was available at Gamicon.

Xenocon now has an official planner page. I'll provide the link here. My appologies that it's something sponsored by another podcast (Fear the Boot), but I found it when I was signing up to go for Fear the Con and suggested that they use the free website for Xenocon. www.conplanner.com/Xenocon
