I'll be running my first session of tremulus tonight. I've ran 1 session of DW before (quite poorly, I felt) and only 1 of my players tonight was in that group, so the rest have no AW experience. I've had people tell me they've had a fantastic time playing tremulus, and I'm not trying to shit all over someone else's fun here. Let us know how it goes. As for running Dungeon World poorly, don't sweat it. GMing is a skill that improves with practice, and practicing means you'll make mistakes.

My first game of tremulus went well, although we literally hit upon problems within the first few minutes. Trust, as many people have pointed out on the internet, is backwards. Also, the "trust cap" mechanic of if you exceed +/-3, you learn a dark secret and instead set trust to -1/0/1, had the players baffled. Why would you ever do that, they ask? That's a good question, and there's nothing in the book to justify it other than 'you view them a bit differently'.
The prep work and the framework ended up working out amazingly well though. The session kept pace very well and out of all the times I've tried running Call of Cthulhu for this group, this felt like the session where we got the most accomplished.
I don't know if that's because my mindset is different going into it or what, but I'll pretty much agree with people: The book and playbooks are not clear enough to play this as a stand-alone game. If you don't at least have a cursory knowledge of AW, I can't image it makes much sense.

Thanks for sharing riotinferno. Glad to hear things went fairly well. The prep work and the framework ended up working out amazingly well though. The prep and setup tools are the only things I would ever consider keeping from tremulus.

Thanks for sharing riotinferno . Glad to hear things went fairly well. The prep work and the framework ended up working out amazingly well though. The prep and setup tools are the only things I would ever consider keeping from tremulus. I think that's the only thing you would probably need. The moves are mostly the same from AW, and the poke around / putting it together moves don't really matter. You could rely on narrative to poke around, not really needing a move for it, and putting it together could probably just be an application of 'Read the Situation.'
