Not to throw my favorite lispy fucker under the bus, but Kimi/Adriane might want to read up on the Second Tradition. Most Princes I run/have encountered in my game are of the "I have domain, you have a nice building" mind set which would take Skully's anger over the sewer wander as a sign he might be trying to/has already declared himself Prince of the Sewers. That isn't to say some don't take a much more lenient view. Plenty of non-Princes have domain. Some, even in spite of the Princes wishes, though those are usually powerful elders. The Prince has the ability to grant domain, as a kind of reward, but it can also be revoked. Domains like the sewers are rarely contested by the Prince because they prefer Nosferatu to stay there. Only the most despotic Princes would claim no one has Domain but them.

My question is where is DHS in all of this. You have had in the space of a year, a serial killer, at least two RPG/missile attacks on helicopters, a famous actress killed onstage and an entire building go down with no convictions. The place should be under lockdown, and the Masquerade should be harder and harder to keep. I get if that is not the game that Stu and the Crew do not want to play, but it is in the back of y mind each time I listen.

It's word for word the same in Revised, p226. I guess I'm just getting old. They say that memory is the second thing to go....

Plenty of non-Princes have domain. There's even a Background just for that, and the description for the Background specifically states that many Kindred invoke the 2nd Tradition to protect it. The thing that I think many of you are missing: I have to re-listen to the episode, but I'm pretty sure that the Prince of the Mote of Sin just ratified Skully's claim to Domain. "We didn't know that was your domain before, but now we know," or something like it, was the key phrase. Whether it was a legit claim or not before the last episode, it sure is now.

That was actually when I had to pause the episode and rant to myself on the freeway, must have looked crazy. I was "You're playing right into his tiny demented hands." I will say, beautifully played...*Coughs* underprince *Coughs*
As for others having domain, I know that not all princes are as hard ass. It more bugs me that they made a background with the same name as the tradition. They could have called it any other word for "place that is mine" and it would have been cleaner, in my crunchy onion.

That isn't to say some don't take a much more lenient view. I've just finished ep. 26, and I was similarly shocked that Skully would take the tone he did. I don't know enough about VtM to talk about "Traditions," but I'm pretty sure spitting venom at the Prince is not a way to gain traction when arguing from slippery footing. From a roleplaying perspective, I loved the whole episode, start-to-finish. I was fretting at first over our Ventrue Capitalist Prince's ( Kimi ) willingness to endure such insolence from her Sheriff, but in the end her smoothness won the day over the simple fiat approach many would have taken, i.e. Prince: "I am YOUR Prince, and she was on MY mission." Skully: "Why didn't you call me?" Prince: "Why do you think I would to explain myself to you?" But with Kimi's method, we have Skully feeling placated instead of abashed or abused, and less likely to stab her in the back. But not much less likely.

Skully was trying to deflect from the fact that he had a prisoner chained up in his love shack.

What bordered me most was that he barged in to another vampire's room to complain that she had accidentally trespassed in his.
Talk about double standards.
But yeah I know why Kimi let him disrespect her (group unity) but I don't think she did the right thing.
He got away with lots of things thru metagaming.

But with Kimi's method, we have Skully feeling placated instead of abashed or abused, and less likely to stab her in the back. But not much less likely. Sadly, it matters little now. That said, it was a gamble. But it was all done with forethought and planning. It was based on the idea that Adrienne needed Skully more than Skully needed Adrienne and, as such, Skully had a bit more leeway than other Kindred in other Domains would have. So Skully could be a bit more... forceful. And he achieved his goal: whether the sewers were actually his 2nd Tradition Domain or not before all that happened, they were after that by Adrienne's own statement. One of the constant themes of Skully in the Mote was how he was so hard done by because of how he looked and all the pretty people got everything they wanted, and how he'd done nothing but support Adrienne and the Mote and constantly got pushed aside. It was all a game he was playing, but it wound up working well for him. It got him out of a Diablere, it got him a titled position (Sheriff), and it got him Domain: his little temper tantrum over Riley and crew breaking into his haven was just the next step in a perceived growing frustration with how he's constantly pushed to the side because of what he is. Maybe it was too big of a step, maybe the leap from minor irritation to blowing up was a bit too large, but again, ultimately it worked. Aaaaand let's not forget that Skully had mentioned the sewers were his a number of times; think back to when Albert brought that one female vamp from the mainland whose name I can't remember down into the Nosforatrium before it became a "public" place; Skully hammered Albert about that right in front of Adrienne and Riley, everyone just nodded along. You know, for whatever all that's worth. I can honestly say that pretty much everything Skully did went according to the plan he had.
