I sent mine in, It probably sucks. It was truly inspired in my own brain, so I wrote it out over the course of about an hour. I'm going to write up a second epic, and just work on it for about a half hour a day until a few days before the deadline.

Stupid question. Can a person submit more than one entry? I have two ideas rattling around. They might both suck, but then Ill suck twice as hard.

second entry sent
I've never done this style before so quality is not guaranteed heh
Something I found out while doing this one; images found in the national archive website is public domain, there's tons of great 20th century photos in there

I would like to confess I was one of the many people that emailed Stu about contributing to this.
Now in fairness my email read something along the lines of "I have never done this and would like to try".
I never realized how difficult it would be to come up with a generic story that anyone could play in.
Without my players back stories to guide me I found myself thinking of monster stories that also wouldn't work because it would go something like "there is this guy in a hat and he is killed by a Beholder another guy in a hat".
Well here is the better news. I have finally come up with an idea so stupid it just might work and I'm jotting it down when I have time. At two pages it shouldn't take long.
Cheers.

It doens't have to be genre neutral, just system neutral.

It doens't have to be genre neutral, just system neutral. Sorry, my example was a riff off of "Throw Momma from the Train" I think that may have led you to think I was going really generic. It was just that I never realized the difficulty of telling essentially a one sided story for a collaborative game. I now have a greater respect for the module writers of years past. I'm so use to latching on to what I think will draw the specific PCs into the story, that without the PCs to help draw ideas from I am just playing with myself. Only I don't even have an established villain to pull out of thin air. Then it would turn into kind of a 1st level kill the goblins idea... I have an idea now and will see how it goes. Just wanted to let Stu know there are some of us that wrote you that are still plugging away.

Just finished my second submission ... It is winging it's way across the Atlantic & through the interweb as I type. Interested to see how these two stack up against the other submissions as I haven't actually played a game in about 20 years (wow ... I hadn't done the math on that until now) and have just started reading about RPGs again (& listening) very recently.

So what's the count so far? How many submissions are in, Stu?

16 entries so far (not including contributions from the hosts -- which are exempt from the contest).
I've assembled a collection of prizes, and I'll detail them when I get a chance.

I never realized how difficult it would be to come up with a generic story that anyone could play in. Yeah, I totally feel you malifer. I've sent in my first submission and am currently working on a second, and both require fairly specific settings. The entire front page of my first submission was notes to the GM about what the setting required and NPCs. It looks like my second entry will be no different.

I finished my first one today and sent it to Jimto for a once over before final submission. My second idea just refused to come together into anything resembling sense. So I thought of another spin kinda going off of something Stu said in a previous episode. If I can get it whipped into shape in the next week I'll toss it into the ring as well.

I'm still planning to send one in. I've been on vacation with very limited computer time for the past two weeks. But the deadline isn't until the end of July, right?

I thought it was end of June?
Per the website, it is the end of July, my mistake.
