I think we're going to finally sojourn over to Zombie Burger for the first time this weekend. I'm probably more excited about this than is really necessary. Well? How was it?

I think we're going to finally sojourn over to Zombie Burger for the first time this weekend. I'm probably more excited about this than is really necessary. Well? How was it? It was sinfully, heavenly decadent. I had the "They're Coming to Get You Barbara," a burger with bacon and grilled onions. Oh, and the buns are two grilled cheese sandwiches... My wife had the Dead Elvis, a burger with bacon, a fried egg, peanut butter, and fried bananas. I also tried my first ever poutine. Good, but not earth shaking. The piece re resistance was dessert. Mrs. UTM had a chocolate cake batter shake, which was awesome. We couldn't bring ourselves to order the Human Centi-peach shake. Or the Two Swirls One Cup, which is a shake with chocolate cake batter, peanut butter, and Graham cracker crumbs. Horrifyingly brilliant, that. I can't wait to go back.

Swedish pancakes are great breakfast for children that are picky eaters: Just pop the leftover pancakes the microwave for 30 seconds.

Last night it was fresh-cut steak. With grilled onions, sauteed mushrooms and baked taters.
It was delightful.

I live in Japan, but am back in the USA until this time tomorrow night. I've spent the last 2.5 weeks enjoying all the things I can't easily get in Japan, e.g. BBQ, burgers, pizza, greasy breakfast foods… it's been AMAZING.
Also: beer. LOTS of beer. My untappd feed looks like I hit the bonus round for badge unlocks. When I get back to Japan, I'll likely call off the beer for a bit because (a) it's fattening me up right quick, and (b) it's not nearly as tasty as American craft beer — and when it is as tasty, it's about 600% more expensive than in Japan (e.g. 12 oz/33 cl bottle costs the same or more as a six pack does in the USA).

How much does a normal beer cost in both places? Here in sweden one beer (more than 3,5% alcohol) cost 10-30 kronor ~ $1,5-$4 and you can only buy it in one type of government run store.

The macrobrew stuff in the USA tastes weak and chemical, the mainstream stuff in Japan is slightly less garbage-esque. The beers I enjoy in the USA run about $8-11 for a six-pack; finding that same beer in Japan usually means I'm paying that same price for one bottle instead of six. Even easy-to-find stuff like Stone's Arrogant Bastard Ale is $4 or $5 for a "bomber" (large bottle), and I've paid ¥2500 for that bottle in Osaka. I'm weird. On friday nigths where I've hated my whole week I'll get a Guinness and a Sapporo and drink them that night. Not combined, of course. Or should they be.... ;-) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_and_Tan

Just had some leftover pasta. We have an Insta-Pot, and if anyone is interested in really easy cooking, you should look into getting one. The pasta dish was this simple: put a package of pasta in the pot (uncooked), add a jar of sauce, fill the jar with water, add that water, add something else (we used Trader Joes veggie meatballs), turn the Insta-Pot on. Done in about 20minutes with no other effort on your part.
My wife cooks all sorts of stuff in it.

Almost as easy and tasty. First bacon bacon in the oven, whan that is cooked add tomatoes. Wait a bit then add the crème fraiche and pasta and let it heat up add grated cheese. Wait until the cheese is melted. Done.
