Man, I really wish I could help you out with this. I live in Riverside, but my local gaming group has basically stopped playing and while I have the GURPS books, I have yet to actually learn the system. At some point I'm going to try to put together a Shadowrun possibly one-shot possibly longer game if you are interested.

Random 'cast-related factoid: maybe it is a West Coast regional thing...I never heard "Gooch" as "Taint" until California. Except, of course, as the bully from Diff'rent Strokes when I was a kid. My personal favorite is "The isthmus of love". Also in reference to addicted2aa's concern about JiB's player(me) dying, when I made the choices that led to the situation, I knew there was a chance I could die. I didn't expect it to happen as up until that point the only real damage the character ever took was via backlash, so it was a bit startling. While it certainly wasn't a heroic death, it really did affect the rest of the party as JiB said, so even if the death wasn't personally fulfilling from an ego standpoint, it really has helped the narrative and added additional depth to the other characters. I made the choice, and dying sucked, but I would not have changed the choices I made.

Yup. I'll spend a lot of time with a damaged hard drive before I'll remake six GURPS characters. If it's really bad, I have some utilities to help get data off. They can take a long time to run depending on the damage though.

So many games all at the same time! I have a feeling this con is going to be so incredibly fun, but I won't be able to make it out of bed Monday afternoon due to being completely wiped out.

Here are two sites that should help you. The first is where you can create an account and character to get you ready for Pathfinder Society. paizo.com/pathfinderSocietyThe second should have all the information you need on Pathfinder Society. paizo.com/products/btpy84k4I have never played in an organized game, but the gist of it is that you create a character that can be used in any official Society game. Any levels and loot you obtain transfer over to every game you play. edit: proofreading is gud.

Due to lack of planning in a timely fashion I stayed at the Hilton for Gamex. The hotel is much nicer, but the rooms are slightly more expensive. One thing to everyone should be aware of though is that the parking is $30 a night. There is a garage for $12.95 a night right next door though.

The actual roll part of the dice contests is pretty simple, it is all the various mods that add to or lower the TN where my brain just says screw it.
I actually like the idea of additional d6s for additional difficultly because characters should have an idea of their skill level and an idea of the task they are trying to accomplish, but when you can add 5 more mods to the TN with each one having a table, I would rather just come up with the number on the fly and go with it.
The core of the game seems easy and fun enough, but it seems like he had to create a rule for every possibility. Which means you either need a player with encyclopedic knowledge or check the book for every roll.

I've been reading through my book and have had a hell of a time trying to make heads or tails out of any of it. The organization is complete shit and I've tried reading through the chargen chapter a couple times and I still don't know when I am supposed to roll or choose and when I do roll, how does it work on one of the 3,000 tables.
I ended up reading the character creation chapter from an older version that was on the disc that was sent, and within the length of a paragraph it explained everything so much more clearly.
This is the first Traveller book I've ever read, so it's possible its not meant for me, and was intended for players who already know what they are doing.
In the end, it has given me a number of ideas and I would love to run through the character gen, but I don't think I will ever run something in this system as there are just way too many tables and minutia. Maybe I'll try a bastardized version where I throw out a good 75% of the book.

Ever since I had heard about the game mechanics I really wanted to give it a try. The double stress of the character being in a stressful situation, and the player being stressed by the Jenga tower just seems so fun.

They do look neat in person, plus with the arc organizer they have such a small footprint that it makes it easier at the table amongst all the maps/dice/minis. Since it looks like Caiden will be living for a while yet I am going to migrate him to this format.B Well Caiden survived, but now our resident witch is in dire peril. Never split the party then fall asleep when a couple demons are attacking you Fray!

What the hell are you searching to find a video of dildos being dropped?
Wait, nevermind. I really don't want to know.

And speaking of Star Trek, my son was playing the Star Wars Lego game. It was the part on Hoth when you have to trip up the big dog-lookin' things with the cables. I kept telling him, "no go around their legs and trip them." He didn't understand, so I made him pause the game. And we watched Episode IV, where there is no Hoth, or walkers or speeder things with cables. Yeah, big fan. I love everything about this post.
