Speaking of house rules, I'm working on docking rules for FATAL. Traveller FATAL: The Docking.

House rules are just fine amongst friends. When you GM at a con, you're expected to present the rules as is for the general understanding of all involved. But when you've got a group of friends who've hung out together for a long time and they trust each other, I fail to see the harm, or why it's a fuss.

storkWhy can't you talk about the weather any more? It's a nice 75 degrees(that's 24C) with only a 10% chance of rain here in swampy Orlando.

But Dare? I have an unrequited desire to run a Jetpunk campaign for my group. (Jetpunk is my term for the rise of the commonwealth in the 1950's, where we get Werner Von Braun instead of the yanks, and Dan Dare, Jet Morgan et al explore the solar system (with Mitch, the Aussie of course)). But what system should that be in? I got Starblazer Adventures is it's closing down sale, to see this that flavour of Fate, but part of wants more maths for a celebration of British (and commonwealth) engineering. . . . or Houseruled Traveller . . . (DYSWIDT ) Aaron

Thing is, I think JiB cherry picks his rules in Savage Worlds.
Combat is in the rule book, the combat is set up to use miniatures on a grid. The spell rules have templates, also intended to be used on grids.
So are we going to have to say "oh, well that's OPTIONAL, that's an OPTIONAL rule". Well if you wanna be absolute, then you be absolute.

My post should be taken with a grain of salt. I'm just thumbing my nose at JiB.
I've heard him say that about Savage Worlds several times, each time he says it, he's taken to task by someone on it and has to backtrack a little. I find it amusing.

Somewhat related to the topic of gamers' Google searches, the. case of Steve Jackson vs The U.S. Secret Service: www.sjgames.com/SS/GAH! What a fucking terrifying story. And all of that occurred before Homeland Security and the ISA REALLY ramped up their efforts post 911. *starts building gaming underground bunker AND creating hard copies of gaming books* PARANOIA is becoming more and more the reality. Wait are those drones I hear ?

When the letter writer said that Savage Worlds wasn't handling their epic fantasy well, I was i bit ruffled. Then they started talking about some of the stuff they wanted their characters to be able to do, and I thought.
"Oh, they clearly just need to add super powers and not be hung up on the 'fantasy' rules."
If you want your characters to be able to have super powers, then bring in the super powers.
(now I have to listen to the rest of the show, carry on).

The email wasn't very clear on what the problem was, but I began to wonder if it isn't the rules as much as the description? Perhaps the players are describing their actions in a Anime-style Exalted sort of way and it is too much for them to then break-down into the segments to use the Savage Worlds rules. I don't know, it's my best guess. If you want over the top action I don't see much problem with Savage Worlds. As far as Hit Points I'm surprised the HJ crew didn't repeat themselves, but Bennies could be viewed as Hit Points.

I haven't looked into Suzerain much, but I do think it did bring in more options once you hit a ridiculous experience level. (I think it adds Demigod as a tier beyond Legendary). I fear the point of the Hit Points is to have a big number, I don't think they'd like to have 3HP. I just saw that as being in an attrition mindset. (shrugs) not much I can think of doing.
