May be back ass wards but your APs are in the top of my commute listening. I always download the podcast but it is further down the list below other AP's.
You should still see my downloads I would assume.

Oh, and, while I am ranting, the help a player dice unbalance a lot of the games and the other AP chat interruptions make listening after the fact less enjoyable. There was more immersion for the listener when it did not seem like watching last week's baseball game. All respect to the live audience interacting, but I wish it wasn't always so disruptive. Maybe the mood of the game should be considered when deciding how audience interaction will be handled. In a serious game like L5R, perhaps chat review could occur at a set beginning, end and an intermission? You might be pleased by this little announcement that was dropped a little while ago: happyjacks.proboards.com/thread/7032/help-players-chat-interaction

Stu, if I still have your attention, though, WTF with the streaming-only APs? Sometimes I feel like you and Kimi have decided to treat podcast listeners as second-class citizens by doing things that require watching face-mic recordings. F that S! Hey! The only AP campaign that is not put out as a podcast is Mook's GURPS game. That isn't released as a podcast because, since it is streamed over the internet from multiple continents onto my home machine and not the studio, the audio quality isn't good enough to be a podcast. There are echos and feedback at times. We wanted a way to keep Bill, Elspeth and Tyler as active Jackers (we miss them!) but having everyone upgrade their home set ups to studio-level equipment for a single game just isn't in the cards right now. We were putting out all the one-shots as podcasts too, but with 6 campaigns going at once and multiple one-shots a month we were overwhelming many members of the HJ community. We cut back and are only releasing a selection of the one-shots as podcasts. Since we are cutting down on how many campaigns we run at a time, we may start releasing more of the one-shots again. ( It is most definitely not that we consider listeners as less important. We are first and foremost a podcast. We are experimenting and adapting to new things to try and build up our community, not replace it. We are going to make missteps at times but we will always do our best to course correct. We care so much about Happy Jacks and the community.

You can't please everyone, Kimi. You can have a pretty good go at it though. jdgriz listens to APs before Friday chat. I only really listen to Friday chat, and only open an AP if I have nothing else to listen to. The crew are doing a pretty good job of keeping both of us happy.

I will say that after giving Monkeyfun Dave Mag Bastards a listen after steamrolling through all ELEVEN eps of Interpol X. The sound quality and listen(ability?) of the APs has moved positively by leaps and bounds! Nothing against Kizzia...especially since he’s running a Spirit of ‘77 game for several of us fools this weekend. The technology has just vastly improved.

If you need extra brownie feel good points, Critical Roll is the bottom of my AP pile and you all and rppr (hopefully there is no rivialry or something I don't know about here) are the top. I love the variety of games you all touch on, and the number of systems I have a grasp on that I wouldn't otherwise.

We care so much about Happy Jacks and the community. I don't know if others feel this way, but I know I'm not a fan of having a feed that all the AP's pile into. My preference would be for separate feeds for each AP with a single "discovery" feed that highlights the first couple of episodes of an AP when it comes out (all AP's would be in the discovery feed). The idea being to get a taste of the AP's in the discovery feed. If it turns out to be your jam, you subscribe to the AP's feed and get an easier to browse listing and only updates on the AP's you choose to follow.

One big problem with this sort of solution:
Unless a feed is periodically updated, it is eventually de-listed, so it just disappears on many podcast directories. So all the old Inukai games (for example) would be difficult to find unless people come to the web page to find it -- and that's a small minority of listeners -- most rely on podcast directories.
It also creates an organizational nightmare for me when posting episodes and creating show notes.
That said, we have toyed with splitting the feed into two or more smaller feeds. How we divide this logically, we haven't figured out yet.

We care so much about Happy Jacks and the community. Hey! Perhaps I doth protest too much. I "watched" most of the character gen session of the Mook's GURPS AP. By "watched" I mean listened to in the background and occasionally glanced at the screen to see that indeed Mook appeared to be conjured out of the ether, floating in front of an infinite void. Anyway, I now understand that the standard of audio quality for the podcast is higher than for streaming and YouTube. This makes sense. I get it, but I am old school audio-centric so I just have to figure out how to listen to YouTube with the screen off on my phone. (Secret: I often listen to APs as I fall asleep.) Ultimately, the charm of the HJRPG empire is that you all seem to be having fun. Thanks for sharing, however you choose. You are heroes, bringing much joy to many people.

Food for thought: Something that many true crime pods have started doing, is recommend each other. For example, at the end of a show the host will play a pre-recorded splash, or a preview, from another podcast within the same category. This has had the curious effect that my list of watched podcasts has an unproportionally large amount of Canadian true crime and mystery podcasts. You should create a Facebook group for RPG Podcast creators to get together and do something like this. I think my current listening habits are a testament t to the success of this approach.
