Thanks for posting this. Missed the KS long ago, and have been excited to hear how it plays. I know Lowell in the Gauntlet has been running this for 13 sessions or so with a variety of players and some who've stuck with much of the story arc.

I've downloaded the quick start but haven't got around to reading it yet. I'm also unsure whether it will fit the setting and I'm also not sure which aspect of the setting they're really focusing on, a crew of a ship, the politics, the exploration? I have to say I'm actually a little disappointed with the level of information in the kickstarter, with the exception of supplying a quick start its really minimal. It feels like they knew they were going to succeed and therefore didn't need to supply any real details. Pretty much my feeling. I like the premise and setting, but a system I'm not excited about doing it? Meh. I'll just wait until someone runs it and sees how it goes. They don't need my $$... I'll save that for the smaller projects that otherwise don't fly without the support that are doing things I'm actually excited about game-wise.

Thanks all! I'm trying to piece together enough info to run a Demigods one-shot for my players. The only PbtA resources I have are the Monsterhearts 2 book (which doesn't mention hard or soft moves, to my recollection), and the Demigods AP and playbooks, which do mention them in passing. You might want to check out the free Dungeon World Guide found at www.dungeon-world.com/downloads/, as it does a good job in writing down a lot of examples of how moves work in play. I think for all the PbtA games, Dungeon World will probably be the one where you can get the most assistance due to its popularity (for good or ill; hopefully just good).

On space combat one of the comments I made in the chat had to do with the approach of games such as Scum and Villiany: Have the ship be a character in their own right. Something that is jointly controlled, can be maneuvered, upgraded, manipulated, etc. by the various crew members. Give it a character sheet of sorts. Give it a personality.

I have more than a few cards that came off of the DriveThruCards POD services, such as those from Postworldgames (like Forget-Me-Not) and The Warren, and others. I've been pretty happy with the quality overall.

I know that a hard move is rolling 3 dice and taking the two lowest, and an easy move is the reverse This sounds more like Advantage and Disadvantage (which some PbtA games do, mechanically). Hard and Soft Moves are a different beast entirely (as described by HyveMynd in her reply)

...hah, no I'm not leaving, you bastards. I'm talking about this article: gnomestew.com/general/when-its-time-to-say-goodbye/ by Camden Wright. Articles like these may lead to less horror stories (for good or ill). Still lots of lessons for me to learn in there. It ends along these lines: That's some lovely hippie bullshit right there, and I'm 100% down for it!

Fuck, that's a lot of posts. Says something I guess. It was HJ that was my first regular RPG podcast when I returned to gaming around 2010/2011. I think I joined around season 3 or 4? Even them I remember listening to new episodes AND the backlog, and it STILL took me a long time to get through the backlog. I can't even imagine for someone new...

But Tomes, you have 1300 and are two stars... Yes, but my stars are SILVER :-) Once you become a Patreon backer you get silver stars (number is based on pledge level I think), regardless of how many posts. Prior to the patreon thing I remember getting to 5 yellow stars when I hit some number of posts (I'm guessing it was also 500).

Wow I just noticed that... what did I do to get into the 5 star club? 500 posts, me thinks.

If anyone else has custom skin ideas, either fully written out or just bare ideas like mine, post 'em if ya got 'em! I don't got any, but I know that HyveMynd's got a few based on Japanese monsters. Ah, here is the thread on G+: plus.google.com/+ChrisHyveMyndStoneBush/posts/CPTsefsmHMd (https://hyvemynd.itch.io/) and are making their way to DriveThruRPG apparently! (Also, congrats on making the 5 star club, EricaOdd!!)
