I knew nothing about V:tM when invited to a larp so I played a malkavian who insisted he was a Jedi knight.

Spontaneous Bon Jovi is why the phases 'We'll give it a shot' 'Shot through the heart' and 'I'm a cowboy' are all banned at our table Oddly for me even a simple phrase like "close your eyes" turns into Slayer's Seasons of the Abyss

Still, even an elf is so far removed from our own experience that it's hard to imagine. I've never seen anyone really try to explore what it means to be a thousand years old, seeing the world change over time, and interacting with the inscrutable fey on a regular basis. It's disappointing when people treat them as just humans with pointy ears. Making them less magical, with a lifespan under 300 years, is a good start toward making them more relatable. I have had players who explore these aspects of their characters in long campaigns

By more playable maybe blydddreug was referring to "Maybe they actually say how invisibility is used in combat." We are playing classic MSH now and man is there some house ruling going on just to make things work... But I digress...I am interested in trying FASERIP.

I am unsure. Throw some dates out and let's see what can stick. I am wide open except for weekends and Labor Day, though during the week I have kids...

I will admit it depends on the players. Sometimes we go full on epic like with Marvel Super Heroes or really any version of D&D. We are more Thor than Daredevil in the super hero mix.
Other times we want a more personal game dealing with more quiet moments. If the players want.
It really depends on what up front they ask me for.

Listening to the podcast now.
I have to agree that the characters should be interesting. I have played effective characters. I have also played incredibly flawed characters who are on their own arc. Flawed characters are much easier to do in a LARP, where you could have 40+ PCs, and the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of a character doesn't stand out as much.
I've played incredibly effective characters too, but I can't see playing them all the time.

That's not something we've formally discussed, but I'm sure it can happen. That would be awesome just to have scenarios to use.
