Yep... but I'll be sticking with the 20th for a bit and hope for some backward compatibility. On the plus side, since my Wife is visiting her Dad in AZ for Christmas, she gave me Traveller tonight. Woot! Hope you all get something you want as much too!!

I had recently decided to get back into Shadowrun, and was hoping to get a bunch of that. They announced today that in 6 months, there will be a new edition. Lol. Like they couldn't do that before the shopping was done? Lol.
Moral of the story for purchasers - buy new stuff in case a new edition comes out. Lol

Awesome. How did it go? I haven't played the newest set of rules. What were your impressions of the gameplay?

Futuristic. I love cyberpunk the mostc followed by space opera. I once ran a game based on the Deathstalker Series by Simon Green, so I got to add my pulpy over the top action with my space opera.

Thank you all for the responses.
I have to admit, I love the ideas. The unpredictable flaw is great, and works well for the Senient item idea and the quarrel idea both.
As for Superheroes, I was more interested in building fun sidekicks and then would design the idea of heroes they ould complement. But I have a few ideas now, and I can build off that easily enough. Thank you for the help, all.

So,
Due to the pod-cast, I've ended up buying way too many new games lately. The two that have stuck with me recently have been Wild Talents and Apocalypse World(and it's variants)
As much as I love Savage Worlds, and the Necessary Evil setting, I thought it would be fun to start setting up a similar plot line for a Wild Talents campaign.
The characters aren't the caped crusaders. They're the sidekicks. And all those heroic champions have fallen to the wayside - dead, turned, captured...
The villains have practically won.
And the sidekicks have to band together before they are hunted down, and prove they can take the place of those they followed.
Now, I plan on designing it with some serious flavors, but I also want to add in some humorous powers, and some cool minor powers, and I'm reaching out for some ideas.
Thanks for any help.

I had a lot of good memories of L5R, though I haven't had the chance to play in a long time. But I get a craving just about any time I watch some good asian flicks. Either that, or Feng Shui. Heh

So, I have to admit, ever since I heard the letter about AW, and read Hyvemynd's post on D-DM, I really want to play a game. I am considering Monster of the Week, because I love the whole hunter vibe. Has anyone gotten a few good plays of this,or any of the varients? I'd be glad to hear any reviews or impressions.

In response to Hyvemynd's comments, the fact that your parry increases when your fighting skill does implies to me that Parry in SW does refer to the literal definition of "parry" as opposed to a total defense. While I understand this, I respectfully disagree the about the implication. I feel the level of abstraction in savage worlds, and in the skills themselves allows me to believe fighting skill modifying parry is akin to things such as trained combat experince and awareness, positioning, small movements on the battlefield.

Hyvemynd, I am glad you liked them. I always get a kick out of well done terrain.
As for the game:
I wasn't suggesting hide the access points, just wait to use them. Don't start the adventure with a Xenomorph coming out of an airvent... It's much more fun if the marines notice them, but you don't use them, and don't use them, and then, when they finally stop watching, then have a little fun with them. I believe, if you're ina hulk like environment, if vents are a viable entry point, and these are men trained to hunt xenomorphs, then they should definitely be aware of their placement, as they would look for them.
As for distractions, when they look at an airvent, and watch it, hit the front door with something that takes all of them to come help from the front... they will expect a back attack, but don't let it come... etc.
This is, of course, you can distract them. Some players never let it happen. Always vigilant. And if they think of ways to prevent from being distracted from extra access points... then good on them. Player power. However...
I like using that tactic from time to time - only enough to make them stay on edge... The real goal of those tactics is to make them nervous - you never want to hit them really hard with a back attack if you are purposefully distracting them from being tactical with all options.
But, it provides an opportunity for them to say to themselves "When we didn't split our resources to a very thin degree, we almost got taken from behind"

Doesn't pull up for me. Just links me to my own google drive. I am interested in seeing your setup. I haven't sat down and stated powers yet, so I'd love to see what you've got.

That sounds good. I picked up the kindle version of the Wild Talents game. Haven't played yet, but the system looks fun.

SpaceHulk was my all time favorite boardgame when I was younger. There are some 3D boards that people have made that are just inspiring when planning a similar style game spacehulk.beckerf.de/ www.ironhands.com/spacehlk.htmI agree with Hyvemynd: the blip counters are great ideas, as re the fire/choke points and the limited resources. I'd also suggest making sure you keep a couple tricks like air vents being used as an attack vector until the right time... distract them, hit them (hard enough to hurt but only enough to make them sweat a couple bullets), and have the xenos be willing to run... but make it hard for the marines to do so.
