You got married??? Congrats!
Nothing much here due to ren faires shenanigans though all of the sudden the angry GM has everyone talking. Tim had a contest and some of us submitted stuff but we have not heard anything. I think he is using the submissions for a Lovercraftian ritual...

Seen isn't all that bad if you have those GM popcorn moments like D20 seems to have where they just rp the heck out of a situation.
We did it with a D20 variant and it was still fun.

Based on what you want no matter how much I love me some Savage Worlds it really sounds like FAE will give you what you want.

Since there is a lot of talk about fudging is there anything on the online resources like roll20 where it just says "the GM rolls dice". Also fun just to roll to get people to focus on the game if it exists.
Ask the crew how they organize so that they know they can game. Is it a set schedule? Is it a sign up spreadsheet?
How is their fiber intake?

Also ask if Stu ever fudged in L5R because combat in that is deadly as fuck. I think stu would respond with 'what's L5R combat?' OMG I snorted I laughed so hard at that.

But aren't we still arguing about an act that either failed or succeeded (opinions obviously vary) and not discussing the (IMHO) more interesting (and controversial) aspects of gaming - like meta gaming and what is an RPG and should one fudge (though that is gaining traction). Aaron Based on the amount of discussion on this thread I am going to say it was a success.

And the whole Angry GM thing...I find him fun because in the end he is a character. I find him amusing but acknowledge YMMV.

About fudging. "Sometimes I fudge for story reasons, sometimes I fudge for character reasons, and sometimes I fudge (pause for dramatic effect) because it's a (insert favorite swear word) game!" - JiB You see that last part there would have the opposite argument from me. You fudge because it is a game? Ok. Next board game I play with people I am going to fudge to keep the game close so it is more exciting for everyone.

Wow. Emerald Empire is a great read.
Ok. I was thinking of making the PCs yokiri of an Imperial Magistrate with the task of rooting out the supernatural. They would all know the supernatural exists but at first the encounters they run into will be things like really inventive bandits or others trying to be supernatural without actually being supernatural. Then I will spring some real supernatural stuff on them
Would it be odd if someone needed garden variety magistrates or yoriki that they would ask the adventurers? Should I instead go with a clan magistrate? Thoughts?

Nice article!! Yeah random encounters doesn't mean illogical encounters.
I personally don't know what I would do in my BECM sandbox campaign *without* those logical but still dependent on the dice random encounters.
