I guess I'm the odd man out here. This is the first time I've even heard of Critical Role. You are not alone. Same here.

Yeah, I'm referring to commercial publication dates. But, not a hill I'm willing to die on, so please read "2nd ever RPG" above as "1st ever commercial competitor to D&D". Tim have you seen the Tunnels and Trolls app? I have it downloaded on my iPad, but I haven't really had a chance to play it yet. Have you poked at it? I have adventures through Buffalo Castle and other places in it. To be honest I have no clue how it reflects T&T though there are a lot of dice being rolled.

I really don’t think everyone should GM. We tried that in one of my groups and it was painful.
And our worst player in that group is the guy who GMs the most.
It just varies.

I am still on Tappy's side of don't bring a gun into a fight that could kill the PCs if you don't want to kill them.
Same thing with a gigantic sea worm. If you know it can outright kill a PC, and you don't want to outright kill a PC, then don't use it.
That being said once you were at the table you adjudicated nicely, letting the bard know that his or her action could kill the PC was the right thing to do, especially with a group that probably didn't know each other very well (you did say you had some new people)

Ok. I talked with two guys I know who don’t listen to the podcast anymore and also happened to hear a comment from someone who still listens that all reflect the same thing.
Each of them basically suggested that the two hour plus episodes were too long. The guy still listening said he was excited for Faire season to start because the podcast would probably be shorter.
I, personally, like the long podcast but people I know don’t agree with me. Granted the sample size was really tiny so who really knows.

What would you like cleared up? I think ......... probably.........everything. It’s, it’s cluttered and I’m trying to find the logic in the interface. Same for you ericfromnj ? Aaron Yes. Very much so though I am just trying to understand what discord basically is for.

I listen to the podcast every week on iTunes. APs not so much because thyey have to be a certain - something - to catch my attention. After listening to the MASKS AP I am much more selective on what I listen to. For now after trying a few it’s been Interpol X. After that ends who knows?

Just promoting a longtime LARP I've been to. It has run a continuous story for over 20 years. It has a magic system that can be picked apart and put back together so you can create your own spells. (from Fireballs to Paternity Tests, it can be created). It's a neat LARP with a "Be All You Can Be" mentality. The best weapon wielders in game have trained to be good fighting with weapons. They don't have massive hit points or anything like that. If you happen to be good with weapons, you could probably come in and hold your own sparring with characters that have been around for decades. You can train to be better with weapons, which helps you at every other LARP because you are really learning techniques to make you a better fighter. It's about immersion. There are no character cards describing how something looks. There are makeup, costuming, and props departments to make things look like how they should in game. Skills involve actually doing something. This takes place in Hamburg, PA. If you happen to be in the Northeast, take a look at it. www.xanodria.com

Ah Torg. I loved that system. I was in a campaign that lasted 8+ years, meeting almost every Monday night, same group of 5 core characters. It was pretty epic. I dropped out about year 6 or 7 for school. I knew this pair of guys who would run Torg at conventions and go all out for them. They were the people I tried to measure up to when running a con game. I used to love playing Torg at their table. I lost touch with the one guy, but the other goes around to different conventions running Unknown Armies.
